I’m 31+3 and I’ve had two. Both times baby has been spot on, second time weighing more than average! I was so stressed when midwife requested the growth scan but there is no worry! Measuring bump with tape is so inaccurate as baby can be in all sorts of positions etc, I’m sure you and baby are fine!🫶🏼
I've just had a growth scan today because my bump measurements went from 50th to 25th centile. Today everything was fine and within normal ranges, they don't want me to have any extra scans now until my usual 36 week one (I'm currently 31+1). I think the bump measurements are very unreliable and I'm sure my bump gets bigger and smaller throughout the day, depending on what position baby is in and if I've eaten a big meal etc. Fingers crossed all is ok for you and baby, and at least you will get some answers tomorrow, even if that is a plan going forward for more close observation xx
I had the same, bump was measuring small but went for the growth scan and was told baby was the perfect size. Midwife said the bump measurements are a little unreliable, and also if it's your first pregnancy, you have a strong core or are petite sometimes the bump isn't that big.
My bump measured small at 26 weeks and I was referred for growth scan. But the baby was actually larger than average. Bump measurements are not precise
Yeah we had this too! On the scan baby was over the 50th centile so try not to worry! Just remember they are literally measuring a bump with a tape measure 🤣 it’s not very accurate. If baby is still measuring small on the scan they will just do regular growth scans to check that baby is growing and placenta is healthy.
I had that at my 31 week appointment The next day I went for a growth scan and they were happy with the baby just said he’s on the smaller side and that they would do another scan at 34 weeks They also checked if there was any reason that he might be small E.g restricted growth, issues with fluid, stuff to do with the blood flow from the uterus The percentiles are based on how big you are they don’t take into account your partner or family or even how small you might have been as a baby They only get adjusted when you have multiple children based on their birth weights
Thank you everyone for your comments!! Really reassured me ☺️.. just had our scan and turns out baby is actually weighing approx 4lbs 4oz already at 30 weeks!! And is just below 97th centile 😳 so she’s actually measuring big!! Just so glad she’s ok 🥰🩷 xx
Yes I’ve had this. I’m currently 33 weeks. At 30 weeks my bump was measuring small so I had my first growth scan. Baby measured 11th centile so I had to come back two weeks later to check she’s growing in line with that. I just had my second growth scan on Tuesday and it showed she’s grown along the same trajectory so she’s just a smaller baby :) The bump measurements can be very inaccurate (so can the growth scans because of baby’s position). They will check head, femur and stomach measurements and also the blood flow from placenta and amniotic fluid levels. If all of those are ok then there’s nothing to worry about! :)
