Need cheering up after failed sweep (40+5)

Nearly a week past due date and my cervix is still too posterior to even do a proper sweep today 😞 Midwife said she’d bet on me likely needing an induction to get things going based on how things are looking currently. Anyone got any positive stories of labour starting naturally after failed sweep, or cervix changing position quickly? I have a last attempt sweep booked for Thurs after which it’ll be induction.

I had a midwife appointment at 41 weeks where baby wasn't engaged and a sweep wasn't possible, very unfavourable, then three days later he'd engaged enough that a sweep was possible and I was suddenly 2cm dilated. Immediately had a bloody show, had a second sweep 2 days after that (41+5) and went into labour that night (the day before my induction). These things can change very quickly!! Got everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

I had to have 3 sweeps each 1 week apart. I went into labor at 41+3. Sweeps don’t really guarantee anything if your body isn’t ready for labor and first time babies usually arrive later than anticipated. On my last sweep I went from basically no change from any other appointment to active labor 12 hours later. It can happen so fast with or without a sweep.

Bounce on an exercise ball constantly and have lots of sex. Sex was really the key for me as it ended up knocking out the remainder of my mucous plug and really jump starting labor

I had three sweeps total, my last at 41+4 and not much change happened between them. My cervix was very posterior too. I ended up needing an induction which went as good as it can go in my opinion. I had cervidil put in at 41+5 and woke up less then 12 hours later with contractions. When I removed the pessary my contractions continued on their own. Midwife broke my waters later that day and my body did everything on its own after that,
no hormone drip. Thought I’d tell you a positive induction story in case you end up needing one. Hoping you go into labour on your own though 🤗

I had my first sweep at 41 weeks & it was a failed one as I wasn’t dilated! Had my second sweep 2 days later (41+2) & I was 2cm dilated that day! My contractions started later on that evening too & I had my boy the next day!

Go get acupuncture for induction!! 2-3 times might do it!

I had two sweeps, both failed. Was booked an induction for 41+4 and started contractions naturally at 41+3 lol! They let me go on my own, mostly because they were too busy to intervene and pop my waters. They went on their own at 41+6 and she was born at 42 weeks.

Mine was basically the same as Jessica. I had 3 sweeps. 3rd sweep was in the morning and I was in hospital in labour in the evening.
It can happen so quickly. I had the sweep on the Thursday and they’d booked me to be induced on the Monday. I was 41+2. Hope all goes well x

I had two sweeps but I was the same as you, my cervix wasn’t ready at all! I was actually booked in for an induction but then I just bounced on my ball a lot, went out walking quite abit and then at 40+5 I went into labour, 3 days before my induction was booked for. I had no signs of labour at all before this point! Didn’t even get Braxton hicks! So don’t give up hope yet 👍🏻 xxx

🙋🏻‍♀️ I had exactly the same as you and cried the whole way home. That was late morning. My waters went at 10pm that night, started having contractions at 3am and baby was born at 9pm. It can all change very quickly so try not to be too disheartened!

Mine didn’t work either. I had a girls day 3 days afterwards and walked through 4 different stores. My water broke that night.

Really appreciate all these comments and stories, thank you ladies! I’m going to get my walking shoes on and keep bouncing on my ball and staying positive ❤️

Stretch and Sweep

Hi girls!
I am 41 weeks and I am booked in for a membrane sweep this morning. For the past 3 weeks I have been in false labour and have lost my mucus plug around 5 times.

How many of you have had successful sweeps please?

I feel like I am trying everything and baby girl is just too comfy haha

Hospital bag

I'm having my second baby at the end of the month and my first baby was an emergency c section. This time I'm doing scheduled c section. Any ideas what to pack specifically for a scheduled c section?

Name spelling

I’m due a second little boy in July! My husband and I have decided on a name but we are unsure on spelling as there are 2 variations. It is not a common first name and I am UK based where it is more commonly a surname. In the UK it is more commonly spelled Callaghan with the G which is silent and has Irish roots. However, as a first name it is used more frequently in America spelled Callahan. Opinions on with or without the G?

Any tips for avoiding induction again?

For context I have been induced 3 times at two weeks over. Babies never want to vacate lol this time round I would love to not have to have an induction. Are there anything that people have done that has helped? I’ve tried before all the usual walking, sex, spicy foods, pineapple, tea etc

C-section hospital bag question..

Never had a section before always gone straight home after birth.

How many pairs of underwear should I be packing? Is 3 pairs enough?

Also is there anything else you'd recommend if I have to stay in?
