How do you do BLW when you are staying at an hotel? My LO is 9 months, so he’s still quite messy with meals and I’ve been wondering what other parents do in these situations.
Do you make them have their meal before going to the restaurant? Do you just pack simple mess free food?
( he doesn’t take the spoon so I can’t spoon feed him 😂)
Thank you!!

Just let him make a mess at the restaurant. Clean up as best you can when he's done and tip a little extra for what you can't clean up yourself

We went for food that was a little less messy and just choose child friendly restaurants so we don’t feel too bad. We might feed something before going but also need to occupy him while we all sit there to eat so always feeding him a little something in restaurant

I would definitely rely more on things like applesauce pouches and fruit/yogurt melts (we get ones with no sugar added if you’re avoiding that) for the hotel room since it would be harder for you to clean up a carpeted floor.
For restaurants I wouldn’t order rice or anything saucy that could get super messy. Chicken and broccoli seems to be on a lot of kid menus these days. Even pasta could work but I’d just put a couple bites of food in front of him at a time.
At that age we used disposable placemats with adhesive when eating out. You can kinda fold some of the food into it when removing it. And I just take a napkin and pick up what I can easily from the floor.

9m is so young, don't stress if you give a bit less solids on holidays. Mine ended up just having way more breastfeeds when she was 10m and we were on holidays, and easy things like fruit. Don't stress too much at this age as it's so much still just about exploration. If you get the chance to provide a meal, do it, but don't stress if you don't do 3 meals a day or anything or if your schedule gets a bit messed up!
Mine went wild with some calamari and chips at a restaurant on holidays and she loved it! So much mess but we cleaned up most of it. So also don't hold back on account of being in public! Babies gonna be babies 😊 just do what works for your family.

We just give him parts of our meal. He loves bananas and potatoes. I've also requested the chef to cut up shrimp a certain way for baby boy (we were at a Japanese restaurant where the grill and chef were at the table). If he doesn't want something he usually ends up throwing it on the floor. We try to catch as much as possible. After the meal we try to clean up what we don't catch

I tried to do pouches when we traveled and she hated it! We made sure to choose restaurants around things she could eat without making a huge mess (grilled chicken, broccoli, Mac and cheese, corn) crackers and fruit were always good to have on hand!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and advices!
We will be staying at a resort so we can’t choose the restaurant 😅 hopefully I’ll manage to contain the mess
