My daughter is 4 years old, she will be turning 5 this November. I’ve tried everything I can think of, to help her and encourage her. I’ve tried bribing, I’ve tried sticker charts, I’ve tried buying her underwear of her choice— nothing. She’s suspected autistic. She will not try. She will sit on the potty at nursery for a few minutes and that’s it! At home, nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🎀✨

Hey there, I know nothing about Potty training yet as my first daughter is only 1years old and haven’t started training her. however, I feel like most kids copy what their parents do, have you ever let her watch you pee or taking a shit? But that could not be your case if they are suspecting autism.

Is there anything she’s hyper focused on? My daughter has a Yoto machine that plays stories and that keeps her on the potty. It’s like a Tonie but with cards instead of figures. I’m not a huge fan of tablet time on the potty, but it may make a difference at this point. It’s definitely tricky.

i let mine (shes 2) watch me pee for months, she got interested in what i was doing. then i just kinda let her sit on the toilet (seat closed and clothed) to just get used to sitting up there. after that i started doing no bottom on the open toilet. no pressure at all to pee. and only like once or twice a day. yesterday she decided she was ready to pee on the toilet, she took her diaper off herself and i put her up there. all day today shes been mostly peeing on the toilet.. every kid is different, and sometimes it takes months but just being consistent and putting them on the toilet multiple times an hour can help once they start actually peeing.

Is she bothered about feeling wet? Most children dont like feeling wet so will then learnt to go. If you dont want to go bottomless (we used oh crap method and thats what is recommended for a few days) then put pants on under pull ups so they feel wet. But oh crap worked for us. I'd be tempted to do all 3 kids at the same time personally and embrace the chaos!
