I am looking to get WIC but was wondering how the process works? Is there anyway to do it online or over the phone? Do I have to go in office? How long does it take to get approved?

I just did it over the phone, they send you links to submit forms for verification or photos for proof of things. Took me an hour but had to do it for 3 kids

they support you until your kid is five, I believe

Well I asked my doctor and she gave me a pink slip referral to wic. It had the phone number on there. They will ask you for personal info and whether you qualify for the program depending on what you make. If you’re in mediCal you automatically qualify. I prefer doing it over the phone, because they ask you a variety of questions and if you’re unsure about something you can ask them. They also offer a lactation aide throughout your pregnancy and after. Once you finish with all their questions you can get your wic card the same day like I did by heading to the assigned wic office they’ll give you. Keep in mind you will have appointments with them every now and again. They offer discounts on tickets to a variety of things, they have nutrition classes, and also give out pampers on certain days. I’m sure there’s more but I’m new to the program too and this is what I learned so far :)

You can google the phone number and do it over the phone. That’s what I did. I did have to go in for a face to face and then I got my card.
Benefits renew on the same day every month and you get a few extra things if you’re breastfeeding, but if you’re not they help supplement you with formula.
Baby gets jar food and cereal at 6 months and as long as you continue to qualify, you get benefits till baby is age 5.
They call every month or so to check in and you can use the card in the stores or the specific mothers stores.
I had wild 14 years ago with my oldest and got it again with my son who is now 10 months.
I get 2 dozen eggs, $49 for fruits and veggies, 5 gallons of milk, peanut butter, beans, 2 boxes of cereal, juice, yogurt, canned fish and 65 jars of fruit/veggies for baby along with 31 jars of meat and 3 containers of baby cereal. But I’m breastfeeding. I think if you formals feed they give you a little less of the baby food and a few less food items. Good luck!
