What if I reach 41+5 days, can I get a c section on request ?

Hi everyone,

I am almost 40 weeks, my due date is tomorrow.
Baby seems to be cosy in there and I’m not showing any signs of labor yet!
I am curious to see if anyone has gone over 41+5 which is when I believe they want to get the baby out usually.
What are the options ? I am keen to avoid sweeps and inductions and hope the baby will come naturally.

Also can I get a c section on request at that point ? I would prefer that rather than being induced.

Anyone has had a similar experience?
Thank you !

You can advocate for an elective csection over induction ime

Yes, you can. Normally wait until 42 weeks if you haven't laboured by then. If youre in the UK, get your request in now though so they've got time to find a slot! Much easier to take someone out of a slot than find one last minute!

Of course you can. It’s your body and your baby, if you want a c section rather than an induction you are absolutely entitled to do that. Legally, obstetricians and midwives cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do. You can also decline sweeps. If you want to, you can also opt to continue waiting for baby to come naturally. You don’t have to automatically have a c section just because you get to a certain gestation.

Go for the c section it will be so easier on the body

I’m currently 40+2 they did try to insist on the induction but I have informed them that I’d rather have a section than an induction and I plan to wait it out as long as I can

They may try to push, but you can 100% refuse induction.

They will offer an induction. If you are against an induction you are allowed in for daily monitoring to make sure the baby is still okay. I know they don't like to do that as they worry about stillbirth etc but it's your choice. I've never been offered a C section but I'm sure they would go with whatever you choose x

I had this 41 and 6 days and ended up with CS which went very well

Baby was too cozy and her head wasn’t engaged so after looking at vaginal birth (I wasn’t dilating) we went for CS

All the best!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Ways to induce labor naturally

Hi All! FTM, Entering week 40 and no signs of labor, no dilation yet. Please share tips and ways to induce natural labor. Induction is already scheduled on week 41 but don’t want to go through that process.

Labour??

I’ve had on/off mild period cramps since 9 last night, very irregular and very mild, but I just had one that woke me up. My waters haven’t gone and nor has my mucous plug… but could this be a sign that it’s close?! I’m 40+3 and desperate to meet her!
