I had my first ultrasound today at 8 weeks 3 days. The technician wouldn't tell me anything and was questioning my HCG levels plus asked "when was the last time I had a positive pregnancy test" this technician had me doubting myself like, "AM I pregnant? Is something wrong?" She wouldn't tell me anything and just said I have to call my doctor who of course never got back to me today and it's a 3 day weekend now... Is this normal to have such a a horrible first US visit? Am I crazy?

@Akasha nope. Nothing.

@Akasha it was vaginally so she took the screen back so I couldn't see a thing

Yeah, it is, and the ultrasound technician isn't allowed to tell you anything. They ask you the date of your last period if your little Embryo isn't registering as 8 weeks on the screen or if they don't see anything. Unfortunately, this is what happened to me. I was supposed to be 9 weeks, and she didnt show me the screen during either. Turns out I had an empty sac. They called it an anembryonic pregnancy. Then I got pregnant again, had another ultrasound where I was supposed to be six 1/2 weeks, but was showing as 5 1/2 weeks. Sadly, when I went back 2 weeks later, I had another empty sac. I'm not telling you this to put you down or make you worry more. I pray everything works out well for you.

@Brie L thanks for that she just kept saying things like, "anything can happen " like something bad happened 😐

I will

@Kimberly She sucks and has no bedside manner as a medical professional. I hope it all works out for you

I AGREE 100% that was not professional at all.

Update yall: my doctor did tell me today there was no viable pregnancy shown on my ultrasound so I likely miscarried but my hcg levels haven't gone down completely yet. I still do think the ultrasound tech was unprofessional but prepared me somewhat for that bad news. It didn't come as a shock- more so like, okay now that explains the horrible ultrasound visit and the technicians saying all of that negative stuff. More negative than positive...
