Is anyone absolutely starving while due to breastfeeding? I have an intense craving for more calories and in particular for carbohydrates. Help, I don’t want to put in weight. Any suggestions?

If you’re hungry eat, just make sensible choices that will keep you full (I say this to be helpful as I’m defo reaching for chocolate biscuits 🤣) x

Omg I literally was just thinking about this. I feel like a hungry monster 😂. Definitely don’t want to add any extra weight.

Breastfeeding makes me an empty hunger pit
Go for more protein in your food options to help control weight

My boyfriend has definitely noticed the increase in my appetite. That’s how I know it’s bad. I’m literally eating more than him at this point. Help 🥲😂

I’ve been eating so much since breastfeeding. My baby is 10 months old and I’m still always hungry. Eating a lot seems to help with my milk supply too.

You are supposed to keep eating like your third trimester, you use tons of extra calories breastfeeding! My lactation counselor emphasized this a lot before they sent us home from the hospital.
Up your protein intake and your good fats, like avocados and grass-fed whole milk to stay full longer. Also I snack on trail mix a lot, Trader Joe’s has the best. Complex carbs like oats, whole grains, will last you longer than say fries or white bread if you need carbs. Fruit and smoothies are great instead of sugary snacks too.
After breastfeeding is when your weight falls off. If you want to lose weight while breastfeeding the only way to do it is workouts, not dieting! Give the baby all the good calories they need to develop while you are their main food source 🫶🏻

same here going on 8 months of breastfeeding and super hungry and it has also eloped maintain a good supply.

Yes!! I have so much weight to lose as well 🙁

Eat what your body is telling you you need! Otherwise you’ll likely see supply drop. I ate like an absolute monster for over a year, pumping half a gallon a day. I don’t exercise and I was still lower weight than I’d been since early high school when I got pregnant again. Not to say that there weren’t fluctuations in there, but just keep buying or borrowing clothes that fit you at the moment, and take any guilt off your plate. I promise, whether you pay attention to your weight or not, those 2 years postpartum your body is far out of your control, especially while breastfeeding, so focus on your mental health and well-being and nourishing and taking care of yourself. Genuinely, some days I was eating 4 or 5000 calories, AND I needed it. And all the water. I went through 60 jars of peanut butter the first 2 months (they’re really small here). Felt strong even on no sleep.
“Fat Talk” by Virginia Sole Smith is a good resource, or her newsletter Burnt Toast.

omg same here too and he’s huge and he’s like how do you fit so much in that little body 🥲

ok, this makes sense!
