Anyone else been diagnosed with GD. I’m really struggling and it’s getting me down. My sugar levels seem high after every breakfast and lunch I eat. It’s the point I’m starving constantly. But too scared to eat cause nothing seems to be the right foods. Then my dinners are fine. So overwhelming. What are other people eating for breakfast and lunch?

Join gestation diabetes UK on Facebook they have lots of recipes x
thank you. I’ll have a look on there now x

Breakfast I’ve been having bacon medallions, chicken sausages, with peppers/spinach I was having a slice of whole meal but found it brought my sugars up quite a lot although in normal range. But I’ve heard the warburtons protein bagels are really good at not spiking. For lunch I usually have what I had for dinner the night before. Second the gestational diabetes UK Facebook page, also on Instagram follow glucose goddess and gestationaldiabetesdiatician. Make sure you have snacks too I usually snack on cheese, meats and fruit (fruit should always be paired as it’s sugar/carb) Basically eat high protein high fat with about 30g per meal, never eat a naked carb always pair with a fat/protein. I’ve seen aswell that having a tablespoon of vinegar in water before each meal is meant to help too. Try to walk after your meals that your getting high readings if you can or just more if general, leg tapping etc. I’m 2 weeks in and out of 45 readings I’ve had 2 high and 1 low all reasonably early on

It’s definitely difficult to start and your tolerance might be different to someone else’s but our babies need us to eat, nuts are a great snack too. Cereal sent my sugars through the roof but I’m going to try wheatabix this week to see if I can tolerate that x
thank you. That’s really helpful. I’ll try pairing meals like you said.
I tried weetabix but didn’t work for me 😣 I’m missing cereal.
I’ve joined that group just waiting to be accepted x

I feel you, I didn’t even like cereal before pregnancy but loved it during so it sucks that we can’t have much of it, I’ll be pairing my weetabix with full fat milk and some nuts so I’ll see how it goes if it doesn’t work for me probably just continue to avoid cereal x

Omelettes work really well for me, as do blueberries with an activia yogurt and seeds over the top for breakfast x

Tbh I had breakfast out the other day. Had 3 bacon 2 sausage egg beans and one hash brown and my levels were fine. It's hard to get used to it.
Just NO CARBS. NO SUGAR. Then work out what you can tolerate and not. It's okay. You've got this. Worst happens you'll go on medication to help you. And you'll have a big beautiful baby to squish. ( they say this and my boy is measuring and weighing less then my daughter did at this time of pregnancy, she was 7lb13 Xx
I’ll try yogurt tomorrow I think with strawberries
did you?? I’m currently on metformin anyway. I was given it before o for pregnant to control my pcos. So I’ve still got to take them. Which is given for diabetes 😩
Really? Did you have GD with your daughter too? X

No I didn't have it with my first. Yeah it should help control you diabetes and it's ment to go after you give birth too. They just got to keep extra eye on baby and test sugars for you you and then you're home. X
