Me and my partner had booked a holiday to Tenerife in April for my baby’s 1st birthday.
She’s 4.5 months old now, when would be the best time to get her passport? Or can I do it now?

You can do it now :)
We went away April just gone and applied for them just after Christmas they where all back within a couple of weeks! So depends if you’d rather wait x

she’d be 1 the second day there, so I’m just worried if her face would change much from now till then

that’s a point but I don’t think it massively matters, I know that sounds daft but their passport is valid for 5 years and obviously they’re going to change in them 5 years haha!
But obviously waiting means it’s valid for longer after you’ve been instead of been valid now for 7 months before you fly if that makes sense

it make’s perfect sense, I’ll take a passport picture later. And talk to my partner about it, see what he says

I would send off for it in the January, my sons face changed completely from birth compared to now and it's one of the reasons we held off. I've heard before it doesn't matter that they don't look like their original photo too much. Just don't leave it too late, you never know what the office is doing anymore 😒

My daughter had hers since she was 2 months old. They have that for 5 years so obviously the face changes a lot between then but it will do that at almost any time when they are young. You can’t go through e gates anyway and the passport is linked electronically to mums or dads I think as you have to put you details in when you apply so I don’t think the face not being exact is a problem. They passport guys are probably looking if the general age/ hair and eye colour matches and that they seem ok with the person taking them through etc.

Get now. Then no rush nearer the time

We got hers at 3 months for her passport and citizenship.
Even though her face has changed we’ve never been queried and tbh we travel with a birth cert copy

I did my little girls passport when she was 3 weeks. Her face has changed quite a bit, but it doesn’t really matter cause the passport is valid for 5 years

Get it now so there's no rush at the time. My eldest is three and still uses the passport he got as a baby. It doesn't matter what the picture looks like.
