So someone pls tell me I’m not going mad but I’m so sick of repeating myself to my partner over little things. My partner has a tendency to wear his sliders outside and on the grass in the garden and I’ve been telling him to stop because he also wears them indoors, obviously I don’t like it as it brings in dirt etc and stuff that cannot be seen. I’ve been banging on about it for God knows how long and he just doesn’t listen. He’s just gone and done it again and walked on the grass where our dog also plays and pee’s and he’s just said “it’s fine there’s nothing there” omg im gonna lose it. He doesn’t understand that I’m trying to keep the house clean as possible considering we obviously have a baby. It’s driving me insane.

Ask him when he plans to sweep and mop

I think the solution is another pair of sliders, one for outdoors and another for indoors. It's annoying to have to keep asking, but he probably thinks it's annoying to be asked all the time.

Yeah that would really piss me off! I don’t even like the sliders that are we wear downstairs to be used upstairs (we have carpet upstairs, laminated floor downstairs and a very furry dog)

I mean, if you have a dog.. what do you do when the dog goes out and comes back in the house ? I think if your husband is a good man overall, then a problem over sliders is not worth it. My husband comes back home from his job (landscaping, so he’s always muddy) and brings the mud in the house. I simply clean it without a word because he’s already doing so much for our family, I let him be comfortable

🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is me, every day 🤣🤣🤣🤣 At this point in the relationship I expect little change. If it was really an issue we would’ve solved it long ago but after being together 15years I don’t really care that much. Yes, it’s annoying, but so is the constant nagging. I guess we have to focus on what we can and cannot control and what’s really important in the great scheme of things. I’m not perfect so I don’t expect him to be perfect. I do things he finds annoying and I wouldn’t change because he asks me to because our goal is not to change one another (that’d be a bit sad) but to find ways to love each other and live harmoniously by embracing all the differences between us. After all, couples are together because opposites attract and because you do things differently and complement one another, right?

Talking about what you can and cannot control, sounds like you have more chances controlling your reaction instead of his actions. If he’s going to do something differently is because he finds the motivation within himself, not because you tell him so. The latter only works when punishment or reward are involved. That’s just how people’s brains work 🤷🏻♀️
So you could try making him see the implications and consequences for himself rather than telling him. It’s the same with children I think - you can tell them don’t do this and don’t do that but until they get in trouble and experience the consequences, they’re less likely to listen. And let’s be honest, most men are just old children 🤣🤗🤗

The only shoes allowed in our house are slippers and clean new sliders. Hubby and me have outside shoes on a rack and inside shoes near the sofa. If we need to go out we change shoes he could be tracking in dog shit sick piss anything. We make everyone remove their shoes at the door x
