@Angela what should I do about the constant weeing and pooing as soon as I put clothes on? He says he doesn’t need to go then does it and if I try sit him down on the potty he gets upset about it
If he's accident free without clothes for 3 whole days, maybe try just one single layer, like only underwear or only pants. That worked for us for a while.
@Angela that’s what I have been doing he only wears shorts or boxers
Stick with that for a few more days, and if he's still having more accidents than successes, go back to naked. I like Emma Hubbard on YouTube for a lot of development advice. She's a pediatric OT.
The boy I nannied did this and it ended up being that he just didn’t want to stop playing to go. We did alarms instead: when alarm goes off we all stop to potty. He definitely needed that for a while until really grasped that what he was doing would still be there when he was done.
@Stephanie that’s good to hear, we went swimming today when we got home I knew he needed the potty put wouldn’t sit on it so I left him do do something quickly and as I turned round he was sat on the potty with his shorts on and had a wee didn’t even attempt to take them off
@Anna That can be part of it too! Learning have to undress to go. Need to practice that too and make sure all bottoms he wears are easy to get off quickly because esp at first they will wait until they have to go right then. Praise him still for going potty on the toilet, and make just a small comment that next time we’ll take our pants off first since he did do what he was has been trained to do just has an extra step now.
@Angela I love Emma Hubbard x
Potty training in 3 days doesn't work for most kids. The babysitter really should continue the method you're setting for your son.
