Anti-sickness

Sorry, another nausea and vomiting post… I just wondered what anti-sickness medication people have been prescribed in the UK? I am finding this whole nausea and vomiting lark completely debilitating 😭
I have tried all the usual tips with ginger ale, ginger biscuits, soda water, eating small and often, those wrist bands, even purchased those anti sickness lozenges from my expert midwife to no avail. It’s honestly completely ruining my life, I know I should be grateful and in amazement that my body is creating new life but like all you others I am fed up.
I am 7 weeks today.
Also I go away on a large family holiday in a couple of weeks and don’t want to be a complete miserable git the whole time I am there.

Thanks in advance everyone

They really worked for me! I had horrendous motion sickness when in the early stages and couldn’t drive without being sick 🤢

Ondansatron is what I’d recommend

I got some mild relief from Cyclizine. It took the edge off but I was still being sick. I used it with the travel/motion sickness bands which I wore 24/7. I also ate pretty much just a diet of fruit as it seemed to be the only thing I could keep down. After telling the doctor they then tried me on the anti sickness meds beginning with P, but I can’t remember the full name now. They worked even less then the Cyclizine 🫣 My nausea started about week 7, then I was vomiting all day and night by week 9 and then it finally eased off by week 15. Where I had sporadic vomiting till week 18. Where touch wood, it stopped. I’ve had continuous nausea though. I would definitely go to the drs and try some meds and see if you can find one which helps you.

I’m currently 9 weeks with hyperemesis for the second time and until this point I’ve been prescribed cyclizine, metoclopramide and prochlorperazine, none of which have worked so far. The only one that gave me relief in my previously pregnancy was ondansetron but they don’t tend to give that out until after 12 weeks due to the risks. Hope it gets better for you soon and you get to enjoy your holiday🥰

Cyclizine and Ondansetron xx

I tried cyclizine which helped me to not be sick but did nothing for the nausea.

Same for Prochlorperazine (both tablets and buccal)

I’m now on promethazine which has been a game changer! They prescribed 25mg twice a day. I found this too much and was very drowsy and clumsy. Spoke to my doc and I’ve been halving thr tablets so about 12.5mg morning and night. Nausea hasn’t completely gone but I’d say at least 80% better and eating much more. And more variety. I also started taking 10mg b6 tablets a few times a day. It definitely makes me tired and drowsy but if you’re doing nausea 24/7 like I was I’m sure you’ll agree it’s better.

Ah that’s amazing to hear that you can get medicine prescribed for it. I tried to make an appointment and got one for the end of the month 🙄 so at the moment living a nightmare. I have found crackers help. I literally nibble on them all day long. But got a busy few days coming up at work and scared how I’ll make it

not a medication but i’ve found chewing gum helps me

I got cyclizine but I found that it made me feel more unwell (I have a bit of a sensitive gut) so that one is a no for me.

I also tried prochlorperazine as I had some left over from being unwell pre-pregnancy & it worked last time. That did help me recently but the same day I took it I got diarrhoea lol not sure if there’s a causation but I am nervous to take it again. It was much better than cyclizine for me though.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
