Newborn Routine

Please can I have an idea of peoples routines with their newborns. I know you cant necessarily have a rigid routine with a newborn but interested to hear people’s evening routines e.g. bath, feed and bed and what times are working for people. We currently are just winging every day but I think for our sake more than little ones we need to start having some sort of routine (even if it doesn’t go to plan some nights)

My 1st born goes to bed between 7:15 and 7:45 after a bath and story and then she’ll drink her milk in her cot. I then start winding down my 2 week old with some soft music and a bath but won’t bath him every night, he will then have a bottle and sleeps between 9pm and 2am quite comfortably. Midwife and HV have said this is fine as he is eating plenty during the day and he wakes for feeds himself day and night.. during the day, we don’t have a routine at all other than lunch is between 12 and 1:30 for my daughter and dinner between 5 and 6 xx

I feel the same - really struggling with a lack of routine right now! My 2 week old does what he wants when he wants 😂 I've seen no pattern to his behaviour yet. Everyone keeps telling me to calm down about it though and just let him be a baby 🤷‍♀️ looking forward to hearing others' routines for inspo though haha xx

We have a fairly loose routine but baths we do every other day or only if needed around 2-3pm as it wakes him up. We go up to bed around 10pm and do cuddles, winding, nappy change etc. then last feed at 11pm and then bed by 11:30pm.. sounds late but it means we get a lie in and he seems to sleep better rather than early night xx

My routine is that he sleeps on me until I go up to bed and then he sleeps next to me 😂 I think 12 weeks is the earliest I would bother with any kind of routine, they don't even have a circadian rhythm at this point. I just keep it loud and bright during the day and quiet and dark at night.

I’ve tried to create a routine, my little one is 3 weeks but she doesn’t have a clue about day and night still, seems to sleep better in the day that at night even with me trying to do the whole bath bottle bed , even nights I don’t bath her make absolutely no difference to how she sleeps so I’m just going with the flow at the moment

I go by her routine but she's getting her self into one quite nicely! She's 5 weeks old and every other night the bath bottle bed does usually do the trick but at the moment she's going to sleep just before midnight waking up around 4ish and again at 7ish. However its totally up to her and can imagine it'll all change with sleep regression. I find if I want her to go to sleep in the day, I tire her out with tummy time and abit of interaction xx

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
