Stretch and sweep fail due to babies head being too low.

Im due to be induced today but they are waiting for a bed for me....they sent me to day unit for monitoring and whilst there they suggested trying a stretch and sweep to see if that helped the process along whilst I'm waiting for a bed.

She tried to do it and stated babies head was too low and she couldn't even get to my cervix....had anyone else had this? Is it normal?
She barely even entered before telling me so could feel babies head but I'm not in labour so very confused.

I had similar - I had a total of 7 sweeps in the end before I got taken to labour ward & got told for a few of them that baby’s head was really low, then that they couldn’t complete the sweep & then when I was in labour they touched his hair/face and then said he kept bobbing in and out so I’ve no idea what actually happened 🤣 my best advice would be to relax best you can and just take each day as it comes. Much easier said than done but I ended up just working myself up. Happy to chat or answer any questions 🥰 x

@Becky thank you, they are still planning on inducing me.. they rang at 12:30 and said that they were just waiting for a bed for me and there was 2 people in front of me.

Just don't know how they'll induce me properly if they cant get to my cervix haha x

Yeah 4 of my sweeps were while I was an inpatient in the induction ward, they offered us all one every day. Fingers crossed you get in soon! They’ll manage - they can walk your cervix down, that’s what they did with me when they inserted the balloon x

do we get pain relief for that because it was very very uncomfortable! My stomach is very very sore now x

I think they offered me it for the balloon yeah! I’d advise you take your own paracetamol too though and take some either just before the balloon insertion or just after. It’s not painful but uncomfortable I’d say and I did start cramping immediately while my body got used to the balloon, but again not bad just uncomfortable x

@Becky she was pushing so hard to try get round babies head....I laughed through it because I was so uncomfortable but yeah the sweep was unsuccessful so she doesn't even know if they'll be able to balloon me x

for an induction the most common method is that they insert the pessary into your vagina to help soften & open your cervix. This is to get you dilated. So they’re not physically doing anything to your cervix as such.
If baby is so low etc then you’re potentially dilated enough to not need the pessary or balloon. In that case they would take you straight to delivery & break your waters. If you don’t start contracting naturally after that (the time period is usually 2 hours) then they will use the drip to bring on contractions.
So don’t be worrying how they’ll get to your cervix or anything. You let the professionals worry about that stuff & you relax as much as you can! I’ve been induced twice and it’s a long enough wait/event so focus on relaxing and resting 😊 good luck xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
