So my baby went for a poop on Tuesday 22nd Aug, and the 29th and hasn’t done one since so another whole week. Surely it’s not normal for a baby to not poop for a whole week?! Anyone help please!
For the first four weeks he was formula fed. Then I started breastfeeding and he has the odd bottle of formula, and he only ever pooped every 2/3 days to begin with. He’s now 7 weeks weighing 9 pounds 6, so I’m worried he’s not getting enough milk 😭
I had my 6 week check last week, the doctor prescribed lactulose to give if he still hasn’t pooped in the following few days, luckily he pooped that day but the doctor never gave me any directions on how much to give :( just feel doctors and health visitors aren’t concerned but should be :(

Our gp didn’t tell us a dosage either so we’ve gone with 2.5ml once a day. Hope things improve for him x

My HV said to give a teaspoon of cooled boiled water and it made my little one go after not being able to. Made a huge difference

Hey, we were prescribed lactulose. Doctor told us to give 2.5ml twice a day and then once her bowl movements become regular reduce it to once a day and then stop once we were happy x

Look up baby foot massage for constipation on YouTube or tik tok- I thought it was strange but she went twice in one day after I’d done these massages 🤣

Are you still currently breastfeeding mainly? It is quite normal for breastfed babies to poop less around 6 weeks, even once a week. Not very helpful that doctors arnt giving much info or support x

We have been on weekly poops since about 3/4 weeks old. She was in pain that first week but now literally goes once a week like clockwork. She’s mainly breastfed with only a tiny bit of formula! She’s 9 weeks old and gaining weight and no longer in pain (just grumpy)

are you breastfeeding or formula feeding? We tried water for a few days but didn’t make a massive difference but maybe that’s cause im breastfeeding and breast milk is apparently made up of a lot of water ?! 😅

tik tok holds the answers 😂

yes mainly breastfeeding, ahh ok thank you for this, so hard when all my mum friends’ babies go more than once a day 🙁

thank you, glad I’m not alone with the once a week poopers 😅
