A question for breastfeeding mums - do you still breastfeed? If not, when did you stop and how did you do it? If you still do, how often? How long are you planning to keep going?
My LO takes milk before bed, at night (sigh), in the morning and sometimes during the day. I pump for when he's at nursery and I'm told he drinks what he's offered (2 bottles). I'm starting to feel drained by it, especially pumping when at work, but I always thought I would keep going until he's ready to give up... What about you?

I'd only planned to breastfeed for 6 months but stopped at 9 months instead. It sort of just happened. He used to wake up 2-3 times a night for a feed. At that time I decided to swap his day time breastfeeds for formula so that I'd have more freedom during the day as I was planning to go back to work and it wouldn't always be possible to pump when I was out. I'd intended to keep breastfeeding at nighttime but then he suddenly stopped waking up for feeds at night. That happened at 9 months and he's not been interested in breastfeeding since.

I am still breastfeeding and she is a year old now. Breastfeed it early in the morning, after dinner and before going to bed, sometimes during the midnight when she wakes up

Well done 👍😊 It is a tough one! I think I'm (almost) ready to stop but at the same time I know I will miss it... Plus I don't know how my little boy will take the news that the milk bar is shutting down 😂

So for you it all happened naturally - sounds ideal.
But I guess my biggest question is how did you manage to get your baby to sleep through the night??😁

Do you breastfeed when out and about? I find my boy to be just too distracted most of the times.

I’m still BF my LO is one I feed her 3/4 times a day and have noticed in the hot weather she is asking for more she prefers it to water. She seems to have weened herself off the night feeds thank god and is now sleeping through only just!! I don’t pump at all my milk supply just seems to have adjusted to her. I think I’m going to do it gradually maybe getting rid of one feed a month and then keep the bed time one as the last hopefully by then she will be ready to say good bye to the breast 🤞I’m not working still so no pressure for me I understand it must be tough now you are back at work well done for doing it for so long though i honestly didn’t think I was going to make it past the first month but I’ve loved it and I’m so glad I stuck it out! Good luck 💜

although I'd planned on only breastfeeding for 6 months initially somewhere along the lines I'd changed my mind but then he stop by himself. I can't claim any credit for his sleeping either. I like to believe I was being rewarded for not sleeping while he was contact napping for his first 5 months alive and waking every 1.5-2hrs for a feed. He just started getting comfortable sleeping in his crib suddenly and then just as suddenly he started sleeping longer stretches until he was sleeping through.

yes my lg is easily distracted as well. So we usually breastbeed in our own car or feeding room, though feeding room is not common except large shopping malls. But it is a good sign coz our little ones are curious and interested in the outside world

We are still going on demand and it's just constant if she's near me. If I'm not here she will go all day on water! I thought it would have reduced by now.

I EBF for the first 6 months then slowly introduced combi. I am proud of us as I had to go back to work at 5 months and I pumped at work until about a month ago.
We are down to only one or two breastfeeds in the night now, my LG has bottles during the day and has cows milk. I don’t know whether weaning off this feed at night will help her sleep through? Or whether I’m better off keeping the tool that gets her back to sleep (boob!) xx

I breastfeed still. I don’t pump milk at all and I manage fine whilst I’m at work. I work 3 days a week and baby drinks whole milk whilst at nursery. I breastfeed before and after nursery and on my days off

I stopped at one year. He was feeding 3-4 times a day (none at night) so I just dropped them one at a time across two to three weeks. It wasn't pleasant, he would strop about it and it took around two months from start to finish before he properly stopped 'asking' for it but just lots of cuddles and alternatives (yoghurt or milk) along with his normal food. He was starting to bite and I just couldn't handle it anymore. Delighted to start breastfeeding, delighted to stop!

I’m still going but attempting to not feed her at night as of this week in the hope maybe someday she’ll sleep more than 3 hours at a time 😩🙃 think I’ll keep going in the day until Christmas I’d like my body back next year before I do it all over again 💀

I just done one dream feed a day at 11pm. She got super fussy on the boob so day time I give a bottle (although we prob need drip that soon) and I’m not ready to stop so we have a nice dream feed oncw a day x

I heard night time breast milk has sleep inducing qualities :-)

I breastfed my son for nearly 4 years . He had milk until he was 3 and then the last year was just at night. He is now 5
I’m not breast feeding my daughter who is 15months and she feeds whenever she wants it. She lets me know and I plan to feed her until she’s ready to stop (within reason)

Thank you all amazing mums for sharing your breastfeeding journey - very inspiring!
In a way it's reassuring that so many of you are facing the same dilemmas as I am now. Let's see how this works out. All the best to you all x
