So I got my IUD put in on Aug 3 and that night I got really dizzy and was bleeding - more like discharge and spotting for almost two weeks and along came a slightly unpleasant smell. Went back in and dr checked for the string she said she could see it and she checked for chlamydia/gonorrhea not sure why? But it came back negative.
Dr said it’s normal to bleed for a while but I’m over this! I’ve also been nauseous everyday since!
I started spotting with discharge on Saturday!
Called the dr and she scheduled an ultrasound to
Check if the iud was placed incorrectly, but that’s not scheduled till 9/11…
Also, side note… a practicing dr did my procedure with my dr by her side that day 😒
Has anyone else experienced this with the Mirena IUD?

Irregular bleeding is very common and nothing to be concerned about. It can take up to 6 months for things to settle down but some women will continue to have irregular spotting after that. X
thanks for the feedback 👍 what about feeling nauseous is that normal too?

It's not something I've come across women saying regularly but it is possible. The systemic hormone levels from the mirena tend to be very low but you might be very sensitive to progesterone I guess.

I experienced the same thing except i had loss of appetite instead of nausea. But the bleeding is normal.

I had to have surgery for a Mirena emergency removal

Mine got RIPPED out of my cervix during a colposcopy for precancerous cells as it hadn't been put in properly, after months of complaining about the agony and told it was okay as they could see and feel the strings
I doubt that's your problem but the mirena coil actually traumatised me, If it gets worse maybe head to hospital and see if they can do emergency ultrasound?

This makes me worry for you. I never got an IUD but researched a lot about it. I don't think the unpleasant smell is normal at all, especially being associated with the nausea. That sounds like an infection to me. Did the Dr give you antibiotics in case you had an infection? It's just that if you let an infection like that go, it can turn into sepsis, and that can be deadly. You may want to contact a different Dr and be seen by them if this one isn't taking your concerns seriously.
If it was just irregular bleeding with nausea, I'd say your body needs to adjust to the new hormones, but you said unpleasant smell also, so I'd be worried too.

Nauseous and dizzy was my experience too. It last me on and off for a month and then back to normal. Also she checked for stds because it’s easier to get them when you have an iud

👀

I got my IUD placed last week no crazy side effects but lost of appetite, cramps, bleeding and nausea.
