Please someone tell me this gets better. I feel like this period between 12-18 months has been relentless. I am struggling with the constant tantrums, sleep regressions, food and toy chucking, just everything really. I am currently awaiting an ADHD assessment and on hormone medication from the gynecologist for PMDD yet I am still struggling. Most days I just don't want to even get out of bed, I miss my old life. We are going to try and send him to nursery when he is 2 but will only be able to afford 1 day a week and we don't get any free childcare hours unfortunately as we are not eligible. My mum helps out when she can but lives just over an hour away and doesn't drive. Just think to myself will I ever get the life I want back again :( feel so guilty for not enjoying this.

Can you go and work in a nursery to get the discounted childcare?

I am sorry you are struggling Bianca,I have had a rough run of it too,my son still wakes early/does not sleep through,we both work full time,we have recently moved from England to Scotland our nursery fees are £1250 a month nearly one persons entire monthly salary and we have no family around we did not before each side was around 4 hours away.We do our 10 hour days come home exhausted, eat leftovers at 830 and are in bed for 930 I am exhausted 😩 I am constantly spotting on and off and am having hot flashes am awaiting investigations from my new GP but I am just burnt out

@Sunseeker, oh, this sounds horrendous. Why do you think your little one doesn't sleep through the night?. I also have no family or friends around for support but I could only go back to work for 2 days as we couldn't afford any more childcare. I work in a nusery so my wages wouldn't even have paid the childcare if I didn't work there too!.
The world is just not set up for working mums!

@Kayleigh sometimes he does almost sleep through the night but he is very high energy in the day! I love working full time for my mental health and I would love to be part time to have more time with my son but we would not be able to afford it,I am thinking that when he gets the free hours etc things will be easier

I can relate so much to your post. My little one is unhinged. We’re going to start nursery once a week just so I can get some me time in. I know it can be expensive. Have your tried looking in to child minders and the tax free child care? Every little helps!

our nursery does the tax free childcare scheme, our Childminder in England was great but in Edinburgh everyone was booked up or the hourly rate worked out more or the same cost as a nursey

ohhh I didn't realise everyone will get it. I thought both people had to be working? I wouldn't work in a nursery, I am not too keen on working with children. Going to baby groups and being around kids triggers me and fills me full of anxiety.

I feel for you, I can't imagine working full time whilst having a child. Although work does sound nice. I miss adult interaction. I have been having lots of tests and stuff with the gynecologist, trying these new meds for 3 months then hopefully have surgery.

@Bianca oh I thought it was just aimed at mums working. Sorry.

you only get it if both parents work a minimum 16 hours I believe! So if 1 of you doesn’t work I don’t think you’re eligible unless you’re on a low income

This age is tough, really tough but it does get better. I feel guilty too because I often feel like I'm just surviving at the minute waiting for it to get easier. My eldest is pretty much ignored because my LO demands so much attention, you literally can not turn your back for 2 seconds as he'll be drinking out if the toilet. He wants to be carried then he doesn't then he does; he screams a lot because he can't talk, I've bought my eldest ear defenders to wear in the house because she hates the noise 🤣
I'm lucky I work 3 days a week so I get a break lol.
Hope it gets easier for you soon 😘

@Lauren me and my husband both work, I just thought ir was aimed at mums going back to work 🤷🏼♀️

I think it is yeah but still if you’re eligible for it you may as take advantage of it!
