Downs/Edward’s syndrome screening result

Hey I was just wondering if anyone had there results back from this test? I am curious if the statistics have changed. My first child results came back 1: 100.000
But this one has came back as 1:5000 still low risk but I was just curious to know of anyone else had experienced this.

I read on mums net some trusts have changed there max low risk to 1:500 but that’s not always a reliable source of information😂

Avatar

Mines is also 1 in 5000 x

Avatar

My results also came back 1 in 5000 x

yeah same! X

Mine was 1.5000 xx

So I had a scary result and had to have a private test which is % and not statistics like the NHS.
I went through all my NHS results with the screening team at my hospital, I asked the same as my friend had a max of 10000. They explained some hospitals have a max of 5000 and others 10000, they may also change overtime. So if you got 1 in 5000 it most likely the max result your hospital can give. Hope that helps :)

it certainly does thankyou!🙂

I am so pleased everything was okay xx

Mine was 1 in 1022, which now I'm seeing all yours, seems really particular! Did anyone do the test twice?

Avatar

My first one was 1:5000 which is the standard rate of measurement in scotland!! Still superrrr low!

Avatar

Mine was 2900 for one and 3200 for the other which is still low but higher than loads of others I’ve seen…

Avatar

Exactly the same situation for my first and second! I felt quite worried seeing the massive change!

Avatar

I got 1:5000 too, was worried but my midwife explained that’s still very low chance.

Avatar

Mine came back 1 in 1800 - lower chance it says

Avatar

Mine came back 1 in 48,356 for downs and 1 in 30,785 for E&P x

Avatar

those are some high numbers, now I’m feeling concerned 😂

Avatar

My downs came back 1 in 405 which was considered low risk and Edwards/pateus 1 in 24,000 again low risk again. Even with our numbers we was discharged from the specialist as they consider this with another nuchal scan to be fine as ours measured at 2.7 at the specialist after being 3.8mm at my 12 week scan

Avatar

Mine was 1 in 4600 for Downes and 1 in 49000 for Edwards/Pateus :)

Avatar

Yes mine was 1:5000

Avatar

mine was 1 in 184 for downs. I then had a private blood test also known as a NIPT or harmony test. Was a bit expensive, in this they find the baby’s DNA in your bloodstream. They then test that and I got a 0.001% chance and also the gender.
The NHS 12 week test is of you not the baby and that’s why it’s statistics not %, they do the test I had but only if you are in the high risk bracket (1 in 150) but they also offer it for £390 at my hospital if low risk. I only found that out when I called back to give them my result

Avatar

Mine came back 1 in 50 (high risk) but I went for an extra blood test and came back low risk, anyone else had this?

Avatar

I was under the impression that if you're under 150, they bring you in and offer more testing.

Avatar

I just received a call that my screening came back 1:26 for Down Syndrome and I was thinking of taking the NIPT test they offered.
Honestly it’s the first time I feel quite scared during this pregnancy.

Avatar

definitely worth having the test f you can have it. Hopefully all will be okay💛

Avatar

Thanks I think I’ll do that between this week and the next. 🤞

I was 1:5000 and my beautiful daughter was born with Down syndrome 💗

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!
