Has anyone else’s baby just decided they will not sleep if they are put down anymore? My 8 week old was doing so well with sleep. Normally I would breast feed her until she fell asleep, hold her upright on my chest for 15 mins until she was completely out then carefully lay her in her next to me crib. 9/10 times it was a success and we were getting up to 5 hour stretches.
The last few days have been totally different - she either instantly wakes up as soon as I put her down or if she does stay asleep I have noticed it is almost always exactly 53 mins after she first fell asleep that she will start really stirring, grunting, fidgeting and eventually crying. Makes me think it is to do with her sleep cycle?
I have tried putting her down ‘drowsy’ but she wakes up instantly. I end up getting her out and holding her again but the more tired I get I am so scared of falling asleep with her on me.
Just wondered if anyone knows a reason for this sudden change? Suppose I am not looking for a magic cure but rather just know that it’s normal, ‘one of those things’ or reassurance that it gets better, from a very tired FTM 🥲

I seen a video on the instagram with a mom with the same problem and she suggested laying the baby down body first then head then rubbing the babies belly in a soothing way until you feel them fall into a deep sleep
Thank you so much for replying! That’s what I do - bum first, then head, then hand on her chest/tummy and it had always been so good and worked. But just lately it doesn’t work anymore, before her bum has even touched the mattress she wakes up or startles 😔

We had this a few days ago and now she is back to normal. After trial and error, we upped her feeds to 120ml (from 90ml) and this did the trick. Turned out she was hungrier and possibly having a growth spurt x

Yes! I’ve never had to help my baby to sleep before she would just fall asleep on her bottle! Now she just has her eyes wide open staring at me as she finishes the last couple of days! She will fall asleep on me but I can’t put her down. I wait until she is almost asleep and put her down and it seems to work after a couple of minutes of grunts she is asleep x

Currently having this! I’m on night 4/5 of this. Day time too she’s way needier and not napping. I started the nighttime routine at 8 this evening and had her on me until around 11 as she wouldn’t stay asleep every time I put her down. We’ve then barely dozed with me giving her the dummy every time she stirred and were back awake feeding and starting again 😴. We were having no issues before, great stretches of sleep and no fussiness during the night😫

Have you tried having the crib on a slight incline? Our little one wakes soon after his night feed, I think it’s because he doesn’t get as much wind up. When he does wake up I roll him on his side and pat his bum till he falls into a deep sleep then gently roll him back, most times it works!🤞🏻 xx

If you havent already maybe try putting her in whilst awake not drowsy then using techniques whilst shes in there, such as shushing, patting, red night light, soft music though if you dont already do these it can take a few times to build the habit

My baby is 8 weeks old on Saturday and this week she has only liked sleeping on us too. At the start of the night when we first put her down we get a good stretch out of her (2-3 hours) but then after that she wakes up after about 10 mins - an hour if we try to put her in her crib.
No advice unfortunately 🤷🏼♀️😕
