Going out for dinner with/without bub

Hey everyone, looking to hear from breastfeeding mums. When did you first go out with/without bub for dinner? How old was your bub and do you have any tips? Thank you :)

We’ve done breakfast and lunch with baby a fair few times but only took him to dinner once so far when he was 12 weeks old. My partner and I had to eat in shifts as baby wanted feeding at the same time as our food arrived! He then got grizzly towards the end of the meal and I was very conscious of not wanting to ruin the evening of the other diners so it did mean we rushed the end of the evening a bit. It was only a pub though so nothing too formal.
As for without baby, my partner looked after him while I went out with other mums from our mum and baby group, he was 15 weeks old then and had a defined bedtime routine so my partner had no problems with him and I was able to enjoy the evening 😊

Hey there, coming to you live from the night feed 😂 we haven’t been for dinner but we’ve been for a few lunches so far and our wee one is 4 weeks on Sunday. We made sure the wee one was well fed and milk drunk before wondering in to town with him in his pram and luckily on those days he was having a “good pram day” and slept for hours! There have been other days he’s absolutely hates the pram though. I’d say use the evening nap opportunity and go for it, the worst that can happen is they would cry and you’d feed! X

He was 1.5mo when I left him with my hubs to go to a friend’s birthday dinner. I left him a bottle and pumped before leaving.
Within the first month we took him to brunch with us and he slept in the car seat on the stroller the entire time. Other times if he woke up, I would just babywear him. I always had a bottle of fresh milk handy too.

With my son, we first went out for dinner around 2 months old.
Without him… No clue. We didn’t have anyone to watch him for a long time, since we live away from family and my friends liked him tagging along. I was probably done breastfeeding before I went out without him.

We took our baby out for lunch a week after she was born. I had to feed at the table but it was fairly quiet plus I kinda don’t really care. I know people who take expressed bottles with them which might be easier.

We took our daughter to a highland gathering so lots of bagpipes/drums etc when she was 3 weeks old. We bought her baby noise cancelling headphones off Amazon which worked well.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
