I just had my 28week midwife appointment and my carbon monoxide level came out at 6, in the amber zone. They took my husband’s to compare, and his was in the green zone at 3. Seems very bizarre, she even did it twice and was the same both times. Has anyone else had this? I’m not a smoker by the way- if that’s what anyone was thinking. She will now come back next week to check the level has gone down…

Mine was 4 at 28 weeks. I am also a non smoker, my husband too. We also don't live in the city, where it might be high due to pollution.
I was surprised too. I usually work from home (from kitchen) so I asked if it could be because of cooking, midwife said no.
Although she said it could be if I am developing lactose intolerance, which I don't think I am. I take 1 cup milk daily.
So don't really know what could have caused it.
They are going to check it again tomorrow. 🤞

that’s interesting! Let me know you get on 🤞🏻

Mine was 5 at 28 weeks, the next one at 31 weeks was back down to 2. It can just be from walking past traffic. My first few were 15 at the start of my pregnancy, I was really concerned it was a boiler issue/ gas leak (I don’t smoke) but it turned out each morning before the reading I’d had yogurt and the gas produced from digesting yogurt can be interpreted as CO by the machines (or lactose intolerance can also cause a higher reading, although I’m not, but read up and I think generally lactose can cause it even if you don’t think you’re intolerant). So I wouldn’t worry and just see how it is next time x

oh wow- how bizarre! My midwife said if it gets to 10, then you’re in the danger zone and it’s off to hospital! Hopefully it’s just an anomaly 🤞🏻

Mine was 6 at my first appointment but I had a cold. I wonder if rubbish had clung to my lungs more 🤷🏻♀️ mine has been fine since.

Mine was 5 at 29weeks, has been 0 or 1 the whole pregnancy. I was so shocked and confused. But seems like lots of us have experienced it!

that’s interesting. I hadn’t driven since the day before, can it stay in your system for that long?

so I went in for my 31 weeks appointment today. I did not take milk in the morning and my level came out 1.
Apparently dairy products produce some kind of acid and release gas which catches as carbon monoxide. The midwife also said the same.
So try this for your next appointment. Good luck!!

that’s interesting! And very weird! But thanks for the tip x
