Bladder Issues?

A bit tmi.

After I had my son, I didn't have any problems when it came to use the bathroom, but over the past 5 months, if I stand too long when I have the urge to use the bathroom, I feel like I'm about to pee all over myself. I'm perfectly fine if I'm sitting, but once I stand and have the urge to go, I have to right then, or it's not going to end well for me. I don't consider myself incontinent, but it feels like I'm borderline to it.

I did push for 4 hours, but ended up having an emergency c-section because I wasn't progressing because he was stuck behind my pubic bone.

Like I said, I didn't have issues to start off, but it's just gotten progressively worse as time has gone on. It's gotten to the point that when I wake up a night, I go before I feed the baby, put him back to bed, and then I have to go again. I've been doing kegels since I had him to strengthen my pelvic floor, but they don't seem to be helping.

I see my gyno again in October, but I'm wondering if this is normal or if anyone is dealing with the same thing?

Any advice would help as well.

It definitely sounds like your pelvic floor is weak, look into pelvic strengthening exercises. Unfortunately kegels don't help entirely when your lower ab muscles also need to be strengthened again.

Never “normal” to have bladder issues postpartum but really common! I would recommend seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist!

@Alexa I'm gonna see if my gyno can recommend me one when I go back. I had a feeling I probably need to see one. I'm just hoping there's one local.

It’s SO hard to find a pelvic floor PT because anyone in network has a huge waitlist, but there are several out of network depending on where you live. Good luck!! The US is one of the only countries that doesn’t universally refer for pelvic floor pt postpartum 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been seeing a pelvic therapist for a month now and it’s made a HUGE difference. She told me that kegels often don’t help because many women who have given birth need help relaxing the muscles and strengthening them in other ways.

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
