Had my 2nd to last appointment today before my due date. My OB has been recommending an induction for no later than 40 weeks due to my baby’s size. I’ve been denying it this whole time and feel like I gave in. I really didn’t want an induction because I can’t have an epidural and I’ve heard the Pitocin pain is rough. My husband has been really trying to get me to do it especially with hurricanes coming near us soon that if other people get on the schedule before I do I may not be able to induced at a good time if it came down to it. I’ve been really advocating for myself this whole time about not scheduling it unless absolutely necessary. I feel like I let myself down in a way, but really just hoping my baby comes before I’m scheduled. Really about to get into all the natural ways to induce now. I’m due on the 17th and right now my induction is scheduled for the 17th. Fingers crossed she comes before then.

It's difficult not wanting induction and being told we need it for whatever reason. What method were you recommended for? Hopefully you don't have to have pitocin if your body responds well to say cytotec or the balloon.
Hoping for you and that she comes on time!

Have you tried acupuncture to help you induced, it can also help with the pain of labor if they leave some type of seeding/needles in your ear. Worth a shot if you have anyone nearby.

we talked about cytotec with the balloon first and then Pitocin if there’s not much progress. I really hope I don’t have to have it either. Thank you so much!!

I’ve heard about it helping with inductions, but I haven’t tried it! I’m going to try to find a place for it! Thank you!!

yes, they can help to induce and it would be much better than the meds they’ll give you at the hospital. You can do it before you to the induction in case you don’t go naturally and ask to get some of the ear seeds to help you cope with the pain, as pitocin causes worse pains than having a natural childbirth from what a lot of women had experienced. It’s mostly due to the contractions not being natural and the lack of oxytocin, lots of cuddles with your partner helps too.

thank you so much! I’m definitely going to give it a try! I had to look up ear seeds and wow that’s so cool! That’s definitely the part that makes me nervous that the contractions won’t be natural and just continuous. I will definitely take advantage of all the oxytocin I can get to get the ball rolling!

I was just induced yesterday and never received pitocin! That was their last option and thankfully he came before we got to that point!
