Coloring with crayons and markers buys me maybe 15 minutes, same with books. Anything that sustains attention for longer? Please help! Maybe switching activities is the only solution. My toddler is almost 2 and needs my engagement in almost everything she does EXCEPT Ms Rachel. I don’t want to use it as a crutch as much as I have, maybe that’s just something I need to accept. I’m dealing with a recent loss of baby so my energy level is particularly extremely low. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I bought this “Busy Book” on amazon for my 2 year old even thought they’re designed for 3+. He loves it. Every page has different velcro cards to match (animals, food, holidays etc.) and the flip pages have writing exercises. The whole book is made erasable and it comes with markers.

Legos. Specifically Megablocks and Duplos. My 3 year old has been obsessed with them since she was 1. My 1.5 year old loves them too, but he's more into toy animals now. I can't leave my kids with crayons because they will absolutely eat them.
I also have had some luck with water painting mats. They're huge mats that react to water. They usually come with brushes and markers that you either fill or give the kids a small cup of water.
I know you said you don't want to rely on TV, but my kids are also recently super into Danny Go dance videos. They're way too stimulating for near bed or nap time, but they're great if you can't get out and need your kid to burn some energy. It's 100 degrees out so we're stuck inside and I cannot tell you how many times my youngest has yelled "Lava" today.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's totally ok for your toddler to watch some extra TV while you physically and emotionally recover

Have you seen the toy sink that works with water? I would put it on tile floor with a towel and sin would wash dishes forever. I also like messy activities in under the bed boxes when I really need a break and don't mind vacuuming the cleanup. We did stale cereal and construction vehicles yesterday. Kinetic sand is a big hit. I saw something online about hiding small toys in tin foil and letting kid unwrap

My son is currently obsessed with any type of building blocks and puzzles. He’ll be 2 in January

thanks just ordered it

ooh that’s very creative
