I’ve just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I’m a little overwhelmed.
Just wondering if anyone had any advice for my many weeks ahead?
I’ve got my meeting tomorrow so will hopefully learn more then!

I’m the same i feel scared to eat things just want to make sure I’m getting it right I seem to be reading different things x

Hi , we all know how you feel! It’s so overwhelming to start with. My best advice is to up your proteins and lower your carb sizes. With that in mind you may be able to control it just with diet.
Milk was a surprise for me, as a lot more sugar than I realised.
Switch to wholemeal bread, pasta etc
and most importantly, don’t worry if it takes a while to get the right levels. We are all different and our bodies react differently, so one person who can tolerate cereal in the morning, while others can’t, for example. It’s a learn game for sure.
The fasting level is by far the most difficult to get right. For some people, like myself, it didn’t matter if I exercised, cut my portions down etc or what I ate. So if you find that challenging, it’s just your wonderful placenta not playing ball. I’m now on insulin and all my levels are spot on.

I think it must be different for everyone, what works for you may not work for them, I haven’t even got my kit yet so will hopefully learn more then x

thank you both, appreciate your comments, I’ve just got to take it one step at a time! Will hopefully feel abit clearer tomorrow ☺️
