I’ve been for a scan today to complete the nuchal translucency screening as at my original scan we were measuring slightly behind estimated dates.
She found a ‘cord insertion abnormality’ on the scan and has referred me to fetal medicine to be seen. Absolutely devastated. She said it could be a sign of a chromosome abnormality or something like the babies bowels are developing outside of the body… has anyone ever had any experience of something like this?
Apart from that everything else with the baby was normal and growing as it should. It was even waving away to us which just made it even harder to hear that something may be wrong 😭

Not me personally but my friend did. She had to have a few extra scans and tests she was petrified the first 20 weeks of pregnancy but recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Hope all goes well for you xx

that’s good to hear. Hoping for a positive outcome too xx

I’ve been referred to fetal medicine too. My baby’s nuchal fold was a bit thicker than they would like and I scored high risk for chromosome abnormalities. I’ve had the NIPT test and thankfully that has come back as low risk so now we are under close watch for heart defects.
I have to wait for baby to grow and go in for more regular scans. I’m trying my hardest to be positive. Everyone I’ve spoken to that had scares like this ended up with a beautiful healthy baby so that helps a lot.

I hope you have a positive outcome too. It’s such a scary thing to be told. Just trying to pass the time until we see them
