Eating hands waking up LO

My little one does this I replace her hand with a dummy. If she takes it she’s looking to be soothed if she doesn’t she’s still hungry.

I think eating hands means they are hungry

I thought it meant self soothing at this stage? He does it just before he’s about to fall asleep when he’s on me too. And he used to sleep through the night!

Round about now they discover their hands and are more aware, hence why there’s an apparent sleep regression. If baby was hungry he would probably cry to let you know too! Sounds to me like he has just discovered his hands and if he’s awake he’s chewing on them, can he self settling but it’s also a sensory thing too! 😊

I think it’s something you’ll have to ride out 🤣 you could give him a dummy inshesd and if he doesn’t want that then maybe offer a feed and it may help to re settle him!

thank you! Appreciate that. I did think I’m pretty sure it’s a development milestone! Ok will try a boob for settling. Hopefully doesn’t develop into a bad habit

he’s 12 weeks! I know he chews on his hands in the day and constantly stares at them 😂 just worried he will keep himself (and me) awake now

awww. Yeah he takes it sometimes and sometimes he doesn’t. I might try this and see what happens. Hopefully doesn’t last too long. I think because he’s used to being swaddled he’s thinking “yay hands in the night!” Haha

My little girl does this but I normally give her, her dummy and she stops and goes back to sleep
