Hi ladies, on my screening results (which came back low risk) my PAPP-A was 0.33 mom. I googled it and it says anything less than 0.5 is considered low. Has anyone else had this? I don't have a phone number for my midwife to ask questions and my next appointment isn't until the 20th so I'm just looking for some reassurance really.

Thanks so much Kirsty. I was annoyed they didn't call because I didn't even know what it meant when I got the results back. Didn't even know it was part if the screening. And she said if there's anything note worthy they'd call me and explain but at least I don't have long to wait for my appointment and can ask questions x

My PAPP-A was 0.32 and I haven't had a call, I've read anything lower than 0.4 is on the low side so it really depends on where you read, there is a lot they don't take into account when they do these tests and readings so I wouldn't worry too much about it, I have a midwife appointment on the 19th so will ask about it then but for now I'm just trusting my body is doing what it's supposed toš

Thanks guys, I'm already on daily asprin as my mum had pre eclampsia so apparently I'm more at risk of that. Will see what the 20th brings x

Where did you all get your PAPP-A results? I've never heard about such a thing, and this is my second pregnancy. I am also on daily aspirin till end of pregnancy.

@Malgos if you get the blood test to screen for downs syndrome, edwards and pataus, it's included as part of those results (they didn't mention this beforehand so I had no idea what it was) the results just came on my badger notes app. So if you opt out of that test I'm guessing they don't measure it or at least at this stage x

Thank you. I did opt in for all the tests, and I received a letter with the results. I need to check it again.

Hi, just want to reassure a little. Our first born had low papp a, 0.36.
It just meant extra scans and daily aspirin. It means that there is a higher risk of a lower birth weight or a premature baby.
Our daughter was born at 39.5 weeks, weighting a small 5lb 13oz, we had Pre-eclampsia and High blood pressure.
She is now 2 and such a happy little girl, so try not to worry. Extra scans can only be a good thing getting to see bubba more ā¤ļø
Just remember it's just a risk, it doesn't mean it will happen x
Feel free to drop me a message and I'll try answer any questions :) š

National guidance is anything less than 0.4. It's a protein produced by the placenta that is measured as part of the combined screening. A lower number in isolation can increase the risk of baby being small or not growing as much as expected so you will be offered extra scans to look for this. If all the scans are normal then it doesn't change anything else in terms or where and how you can deliver. Xx
