So, I'm 36w 1d today and had my weekly visit. OB says the baby is already in a head down position and she could feel contractions during the check up. She suggested we need to try to stop the labor at least for a week to make sure that the baby is full term (even though the baby is fully formed). I've been given the medicine to stop contractions for this week and later any time can expect the baby to come. Anyone else facing something similar?

I would not b stopping my labor 😩 your body knows best

exactly! Lol and I know she ready to have the baby too

Weird my doctor said she wouldn’t stop labor if I started anytime after 34 weeks. 37 is considered full term so I’m surprised they stopped you!

@Gracie according to her 37 would be full term baby and would be safe to deliver

So 36 weeks is still considered preterm labor and they know babies lung development is not usually done until after 36 weeks so I’m sure out of abundance of caution to keep your baby out of the nicu they would want to keep them in until after 36 weeks. Did they do a scan of baby to see how things are looking and measuring inside also?

@Amy exactly what the doctor said.. Lung development would be at the finest after 37 weeks and might not need nicu. I have the scan scheduled on Thursday to check the growth. So far, the baby is fully matured with the head set in pelvis.
