Does anyone else feel really isolated since little one arrived? I love him more than life itself but I very rarely get to do anything with friends, about once every two months or so.
My husband works long hours and we have no family support close by, so I am stuck in the house every single evening. Husband is very sociable and needs time with friends and travel or he gets depressed. So I end up of course looking after little one.
My existing friendships have crumbled away since I became a mum and due to my own part time work I just don’t ever get to meet people or go out. When I do make plans they always seem to get cancelled.
Just feeling quite down about it and isolated. Wondering if any other mamas have been in the same boat?

Have you thought about going to groups/ activities with baby to make friends with other mums?
I do go to baby groups on my two days off work. It’s nice to see the other mothers there but I can’t say that I’ve made any real friends tbh. It’s hard to have proper conversations as it’s constantly interrupted by the toddlers!

It’s definitely hard. The mums in my local group have started a WhatsApp group where we ask each other what we’re up to and make plans with each other outside of the groups.

Yes, I'm a single mom and the weekends are rough for me. My son is autistic and I have very limited help with him so it's difficult for us to get out. I don't have any friends either. But I do have a support group. Maybe I'll have to "courage" to ask one of the moms to breakfast or something one day.
Maybe since the isolation is getting you down now too you're husband would be willing to help pay for a babysitter or nanny so you can go out to do hobbies, make friends.

Seems like both you and your husband need social connections not to get depressed/down, not just him … is he willing to take his turns staying home with baby so you can get your needs met too?
Thanks all for your replies. I think it will be easier for me to go out / travel when it is not just me that can put toddler to bed (I BF to sleep). I am going to speak to nursery to see if any of the staff there babysit on an evening as that could help. I just feel I have lost a lot of my confidence in making friends but guess I need to get myself back out there. Thanks again xx

I feel the same. Barely have a social life. Husband works long hours, so I'm left with the little one. She barley talks. Her speech is delayed.. so basically feels like I'm home alone.
