Breastfeeding and pacifier

I don't exclusively breastfeed. I breastfeed my LO in the morning and she gets a bottle the rest of the day, so take what I say however you wish: even after gettinf her back to the breast from exclusively pumping for a month, she latched just fine. She never really took a pacifier (I feel like she hated it if she sucked on it for so long and nothing came out 😂). I know there is information out there that talks about nipple confusion but I personally didn't find that to be the case. She knew what gave her food and what didn't.

I use to exclusively bf but then I had to start supplementing and now I bf all day and give formula only at night and I pump during the night but my baby has used a paci since he was a couple weeks old, now he’s about to be 4 months and he’s able to latch on to anything with no problem but also remember every baby is different

Also mine use to spit out his paci all the time until I tried the tommee tippee ultra light paci (seen on tiktok) and he took it right away and didn’t spit it out like the other ones

I EBF and have been using mam pacifiers since she was a couple of weeks old and never had any latch issues! She needs it for car rides and going out, i didnt want her to fully rely on me for a pacifier🤣

My Lc told us a pacifier shouldn’t cause nipple confusion after 3-4 weeks of nursing or if they’ve established a good latch already. Mine still doesn’t like one though lol

My ebf baby took a paci in the hospital and she never had any trouble latching , we used nano bebe now we use bibs , they told me get a nipple shaped paci not the flat ones, nuk has a line that’s for breastfed babies they have paci s and bottles human nipple shaped

This is my 2nd time EBF. My babe started teething early (like 6w), so we got some Bibs pacifiers. He usually only uses them while in his bassinet or carrier, sometimes if we're holding him during a rough night.

It hasn't changed his latch at all and we continue to have success with EBF. If anything, he's a bit awkward with the paci and often just chews on it for pain relief. The experience with my first was very similar, she just started teething later.

I combo bottle and breastfeed. My baby took a pacifier the first couple weeks but after he latched he doesn't take it anymore. Spits it out like you mentioned. I notice if he goes long stretches with bottles that he doesn't latch as well for a couple breastfeeding sessions. This is getting better though. And what I do when his latch shifts is I just switch up positions until we get there ( side lying is usually best when this is happening bc it seems easier for him)

My lo uses his fingers and arms. I read this is a good thing bc they'll always have those available
