My 3 year old isnt potty trained yet felt like that was my fault for not teaching him sooner but once his doctor said he might be Autistic when he was 2 years old so he cant be potty trained right away. He is about to start a program for his speech and they will teach him how to use the potty but does anyone have any suggestions anyway on how yall potty trained your kids?

I trained My oldest autistic child the same as anyone else would she could sit on the potty for like an hour if I let her with a bowl of snacks a bottle of juice and paw patrol lol 🤣 she was fully dry day and night by 3
My second autistic child on the other hand she doesn't really like the potty Hates sitting on one but can pee in it eventually but she can't wiggle and gets bored
So I'm trying a seat in the toilet ATM and she enjoys playing with my toilet frame (I'm disabled) and after seeing me once use the toilet and pat with tissue so she likes to tear up a bit of tissue and pretend to pat and put it in eventually she is staring at the water waiting for the toilet flush lol 🤣 it's going ok though 1 out of the last three days of it we had a dribble in the toilet
This morning she literally held in wee for twenty mins then peed in her nappy lol 🤣 was not in the mood for potty training so pick battled well there haha 😆
My second is speech delayed and has minimal eye contact (almost 3yrs)

Always try
If it doesn’t work pivot your plan and try another method
We are in try 3 with 2.5 year old now
He has expressive and reception language delays as well as non verbal so it’s extremely hard
ASD its such a variety, having it alone isn’t a reason for the doctor to assume your little one can’t be potty trained at an early age

I trained my daughter (severe speech delay) age 2 by learning her facial expressions and noises and using signs to communicate she needed to go. We used pull ups and put her on the potty/toilet every time she made a face and once we got the hang on that we removed the nappies.
My son was 4 (asd) and had no awareness and we took away the nappies and took him every 30/1 hr at first and then lengthening the time. It did take months for him to realise the sensation so we were basically just catching it.
