Breastfeeding and childcare

Hi, I've got a September baby and I'm just thinking about should I still give expressed milk to the childminder to give... all the formula parents are talking about switching to cows milk and I just don't know what the deal is with my situation. I'm at home with him for 2 days + weekend and will feed on demand as I've always done. Just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and what they've done. The obvious answer to me is to just keep giving it and expressing at work... is that right??? 🙈 clueless!

That was what I am planning to do. I thought it was best to express on the days I am at work, as I still plan to feed on my days at home and like you will have 4 days together.

Do what’s best for you. I don’t manage to express much milk anymore as I stopped using the pump. I work 3 days a week and nursery gives whole milk in a cup those days. I BF before and after nursery on them days and I BF on all the days I’m with baby. I don’t pump at work and I don’t get engorged boobs or any problems. We’ll continue to BF as long as baby wants to.

With my oldest (now 3) I pumped at work and gave expressed milk to Nursery to give him while he was there. He wasn't really interested so gave up giving it to him after a few months.
I'm now in the same situation with my youngest (just turned 1) she will feed from me when she wants on the 4 days I'm with her. The 3 I'm at work I express and leave some with nursery for her. She's not drank much yet, so I'll see how it goes.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do! X

I don't use childcare as such but my LO has days when family will have her as I work from home and don't get much done if I'm.at home by myself with her. I used to send her with expressed milk but recently she's just been having water and will feed from me when she gets home. She's 13 mths. I've stopped pumping as well now as I wasn't getting much, it isn't needed and I don't feel uncomfortable!

I don't pump anymore. One feed before work, one feed after work and night feeds. Will continue to do so until she doesn't want to, or I don't want to. She has some oat milk in nursery but doesn't drink much milk at all. She does drink water well when I'm not there too. When we're home together, I feed on demand and she feeds four times a day usually, if not more if she's ill/tired.

He is with my parents while I work but I don't send expressed milk anymore because he doesn't really drink it. I express once while at work, and freeze the milk. It'll be used sometimes, if for nothing else, for his baths 😅

I express when at work for when he's at nursery. He can't have cows milk so I have to keep going really, or else switch to a special formula which he doesn't particularly like, or one of the non dairy milks (we tried oat milk) which he also is not too keen on.

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?
