In our living room we have a gas fire and marble fireplace. The fire is never used ever. As we spend lots of time in there I’ve brought padding that sticks around the bottom of the fireplace and on the corners in case our little one rolls that way (little one is never left anywhere alone anyway) my partner is set on having a fireguard. I personally don’t think it’s necessary? And he could hurt himself on that anyway? I would 100% have one if the fire was used. His argument is that he could hurt himself on the marble? And the fire but has glass on. What do you think?

I would agree about the marble because if he trips and falls onto it that could really hurt/damage teeth/head etc. but the rest is probably fine. In the same way as table corners, he might be fine the majority of the time but it only takes one trip/wobbly mishap for it to cause injury
