How long do I need to wake my little one up for a feed?

My boy is 3 weeks old and I’d like advice on when I should stop waking my baby up every 2-3 hours for a feed. I googled it and it says when he’s out good weight on. Not helpful!

Hey! I have a three week old as well. The doctor told me to stop waking for feeds after two weeks, but my baby was above her birth weight at her two week appointment.

But, I still do a midnight ‘dream feed’ to carry her through the night without waking.

I say at 3 weeks no need to wake them up. That’s if baby was full term, and has gained weight and there are no other health issues. Baby will wake up when they are hungry. And if you feel like too much time has past and you want to try feeding, then do it. If baby is hungry it will eat. You can use your intuition and change if you need to.

If back up to birth weight, gaining weight nicely and plenty of wet and dirty nappies, enjoy the sleep and follow babies lead x

Baby should be up to birth weight and after that then if baby wants to sleep all night, let them.

I stopped waking her at about 2 weeks...then she just kinda stopped on her own

If he’s getting chubby and gaining weight let him sleep but if he’s on the thin side definitely wake him up!!! if he stays thin and doesn’t gain weight, your pediatrician is going to raise it as a red flag and we call social services. I seen it happen. Point is baby must keep gaining otherwise they will think he’s not bran fed.

My son have severe jaundice and after a couple of days out of hospital the health visitor said I didn’t need to keep waking him up as he was getting enough milk during the day.

I personally never did it, I was told it was a good idea to, but my LG naturally woke every 3-4 hours, and the one time a midwife came in and woke her to feed every ounce came back up. So I just didn't bother with it, and I won't be doing it with my baby due November either.

Sorry, the point of my comment is: as long as baby is putting on weight, you don't need to do it.

I never woke my babies for feeds.

If they are hungry they will wake on there own. That's what I got told......1st is almost 16 and 2nd is almost 11, no issues.

I never woke my child to eat, if they’re hungry they will let you know

I never woke my baby up to feed, if she’s hungry she’ll wake up and I’ll feed her. I’ve been doing that since birth and she’s 4 months

I never woke my baby to feed and he’s always been a cracking sleeper! He struggled to gain weight at first but I never woke him, if he was hungry he would wake himself. He soon caught up and he’s been on the 91st centile for ages, he’s a chunky boy lol I wouldn’t worry yourself. Enjoy the sleep. No way was I settling alarms to wake him x

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
