Registering a pregnancy
Good Morning,
Last time I was pregnant you called the GP to book your first midwife appointment. I read that now we register using "My pregnancy notes" in Leeds. How was this process for people? I registered at 4weeks I'm now 7weeks +5 but have heard nothing (all their info says they aim for your first appt. at 8 weeks). I'm not sure if I should be calling them by now🤷♀️ I'm keen to get this appointment in whilst my boss is on leave over the next couple of weeks 🤣

Your GP should have contact details for if you haven't heard anything from the midwife.
Well, I called the number on the website today ( the they tell you to call if you haven't heard in 14 days or by 8 weeks) they were quite unbothered 🤷♀️🤦♀️
The system is rather passive and you need to chase for appointments. I ended up calling a chain of numbers till someone gave me a number of the midwife who’s “care” I’d be under. Contacted her multiple times to get an appointment which was at 10 weeks. I’m now 20 weeks and still haven’t had my 16 week appointment and again lots of chasing. I have one booked in now but the systems rubbish. And if ur pregnant first time round like me it’s daunting isolating and frustrating. I suggest you call gp reception and ask for a number and start from there.
Need to rant some more, bloods been taken at 2 appointments, no feedback, 2 urine samples also no feedback I don’t even know what they are testing for because no one tells u anything. At our first scan no sound to hear baby’s heart beat and ran out of paper so couldn’t get a picture. Calls go unanswered and voicemails ignored. Questions asked go unanswered and concerns not reassured. I have little faith and a part of me wants to stop chasing and engaging at all.
I'm so sorry. This is my 2nd and I have to say I'm not looking forward to the community midwife experience again, it wasn't good first time around but I am definitely a bit more confident in saying no and asking questions now than I would have been first time around when I was so close to disengaging but then remember got a great midwife was really team me and things changed then.

It also depends what hospital you want to use for your appointments/birth! I have a Leeds postcode but live closer to Pinderfields, I also rang my GP and was originally told to to register myself with my pregnancy notes, 4 weeks down the line I had an appointment made on the app that just said "location: community" my doctors were very unhelpful so I had to ring the LGI (Pinders not an option on my pregnancy notes) only to be told I'd been given the wrong information and didn't need my pregnancy notes because I needed an "out of area" appointment. After multiple calls to my GP they finally gave me an email address for my community midwife who gave me the correct information of using "Badger notes" instead. I finally got sorted through that, and since then it's been pretty smooth sailing. However as it's my first pregnancy I wasn't expecting it to be so hard to be seen for my first appointment..
Personally I would be finding a contact number on my pregnancy notes as they often miss self referrals now x
