Hey, does anyone have any tips on how to start potty training? My little girl turned 2 in June and is not wanting to potty train at all. She will sit on the potty but only if she has a nappy on (which defeats the objectđ). Sheâs good at letting me know when sheâs got a dirty nappy or if she needs a number 2 (doesnât want to do it on the potty) but doesnât tell me if she needs a wee. Weâve tried sitting on the floor with her whilst sheâs on the potty with her nappy off and she will happily sit there with some encouragement but thats only every now and then. And even when she sits on it without a nappy she will not do her business. Most of the time she will panic and run off. We always leave the potty out on the off chance that she might just ask to use it. Sheâs seen me go to the toilet plenty of times so I know that she knows she needs to do things like me and I know when she finally does it for the first time and gets praise for it, she will want to keep doing it but Iâm just having a hard time getting her to do it just once. Any tips would be much appreciated x

Hi, I highly recommend âOh crap potty trainingâ book. I think our situation was very much similar to yours until I read this book and started to use what I found there. You can research some videos too, where parents talk about this book or similar, so essentially you may not need to read the book! I know not everyone have time for reading x

Iâll definitely have a look for this book! Thankyou for the suggestion!x

honestly really helped us to understand the whole concept of potty training! I really hope it will help you guys too. Good luck đx

I rate the book too. The naked bottom approach definitely helped get started.

I agree with Lauren if they're not ready they're not ready my nephew was born in Feb 2021 and he's not showing any signs whereas our lb born June 1st 2021 is showing all the signs and is pretty much potty trained now they all develop at their own pace

I followed a video on YouTube and managed to potty train my daughter at 2 years, 2 months old. It took 5 days for her to be completely potty trained. For the first day, keep them naked and keep asking her if she needs to go. You have to just keep prompting at that stage. Day 2 is the same as day 1 but they should be having less accidents on the floor. Day 3 put knickers on her and keep prompting her to go to the toilet. There will be loads of accidents in her knickers but donât tell her off, just gently encourage her to use the potty or toilet. Day 4 onwards is fully clothed and you could even venture outside the house for 5 minutes. By day 5 Iâd taken my daughter on an hour and a half trip to my mumâs house and she didnât have a single accident the whole time I was there đđŒ
