My lil boy came into this world 6 days ago. After 34 hours of labor, resulting in a emergency c section that was difficult.
The first night was a blur, I lost a lot of blood so the entire c-section I was blacking in and out. I remember my sons cry, I remember quickly seeing him before passing out again. I remember thinking the whole time “wow how embarrassing I have drool running down my face” each time I blacked in, I remember my husband sitting behind me with our new son but not being able to comprehend what happened. We went to recovery and they sat my son on me. It was love but I was so exhausted and drugged up from the complications I never got that initial bonding moment I dreamed of having. The first night my husband got all the time with him. I was so jealous.
I had a hard time mentally the first 2 - 3 days until we got home. I could stop breaking down. Now we are are 6 days in and I’ve had time to bond and do skin skin with our son & starting to feel like myself more and more every day or at least what I hoped for as a new mom. BUT ITS OKAY if it’s not as instant as you wanted, if it didn’t click like you thought it would, if you need more time for recovery or if you need more help then you wanted ITS OKAY!!
Thankful for my husband who has been SO great. He took on a lot of the typical “mom” duties so I mentally had time to recover a little more. He checks in every day with my mental health. I really would not have been able to do it with him!
I really just want to say, even if your birth didn’t go as planned, to be disappointed and need to take extra time to heal so you can concentrate on your new bundle of joy!!

Thank you for this reminder. Similar happened to me this week and I'm mentally drained.
