Hey y’all, so I have a 13 year old cat. He is the sweetest little boy, but he cannot use a litter box to save his life. He pees in it but rarely ever takes a crap in it and leaves it on the floor for us to clean up! My husband and I have tried everything, getting extra litter boxes, changing the litter, getting him new food, taking him to the vet, everything. This whole thing started about 4 years ago when I still lived with my parents (I got him when he was a kitten) It was on and off then, but now we can’t go one day without finding 3 shits around the house. He has been an indoor cat all his life and I am due with our firstborn in November. She will be having some health concerns and we simply do not want her near feces, we talked about taking him to the animal shelter but it saddens me because I know he’ll probably die in a cage and I don’t want that! Also no one would take him because of this problem and would he survive outside?! Time is ticking and it’s so frustrating! Any ideas?

Don't throw him outside especially if you've had him since he was a kitten. He will not survive and he will not understand what's going on and all you'll be doing is breaking his poor old soul. Look for fosters for him instead of a shelter. No animal deserves to just be kicked to the curb so if you must get rid of him do so in a kind manner so he has a chance. Certain fosters will take their time to fix the issue. You can also try sprays that attract him to the box as well. Remember all he knows is an indoor life with love and it's cruel to throw him out. Please find an alternative option for him.

Sometimes cats don’t use their box for number 2 cause either the size of the box, litter type or location of the box. I say try to observe where he usually goes and try to make adjustments. Please don’t put him outside or the shelter :(

Giiirl my cat is doing the same stuff and my baby is 5 months. I'm mortified if he crawled into her feces. It's a tough choice to give up your pet but at the end of the day my child comes first.
Trying to give her a chance but once baby starts fully crawling and she does this, she's got to go
