I am waiting in line along a fence that’s surrounding a parking with other people for a food giveaway. On the other side of the fence, a car parks and two women get out, one little girl and an older girl(about9) carrying a baby. They walk out around a bit looking for a way into the like but in the end they just give up, I guess it was too long and head back in the car. The two older women get in the front seat, leaving the two girls alike with the baby to get in by themselves. And I’m thinking hmm where is the car seat? Since the windows were all rolled down and you could wee everything. The little girl gets in and the older girl with the baby tries to get in but is clearly struggling and accidentally hits the baby’s bead with the roof of the car. Baby starts crying, none of the women Do anything to help and the idler girl is just trying to console her. In the end the baby stops crying and she gets in through the other side where I’m looking at. When she opens the door, I literally saw everything and there was no car seat. She sits in, with the baby in her lap and the car just drives away. The oldest lady, the driver; even on her phone with speaker in her hand. I know you have to mind your own business but it boiled my blood how these grown assvwomen give no craps about this baby, to even put it in a car seat. I mean, like aren’t you scared th cops could pull you over like your windows are all rolled down lol. I tried calling writing down the license plate but couldn’t see one number so it’s not complete, don’t know what to do with the information. Am I lowkey being judgmental? I think when it comes to an innocent child’s safety, we should all come together and advocate for them.

I would of done the same thing. A child cannot speak up for themselves so in those situations trust your gut. I'm a social worker and I know we get a bad wrap for "taking kids away" but that isn't true. CPS actually tries to help give resources and help the parents versus straight up taking them or arresting a parent unless they were an immediate danger or straight up harming the kid, someone else, or themselves. I always keep the number for CPS in my phone to report just in case. And when you call you just tell them what's going on and they tell you if it's considered child abuse or if they need to follow up. I know that might be a bit much to some people but a child's safety is number one. Maybe the mom can't afford a car seat or they do have one and haven't installed it yet and live right down the road or something. Not an excuse to put that baby in harms way but there is more to the story than what we can see. I don't work for CPS but any mandated reporter would call just to make sure baby + mama are safe
that’s a good idea about keeping the cps number, I’m gonna go and look it up rn; but some part of me also doesn’t want to do say anything bc in so many cases the good parents get their kids taken away while the bad ones get to keep them, that’s the mentality of a lot of people here
