My son is just over a month old and I’m a first time mum, I know newborns are belly brothers but because of my anxiety I’m going insane with panic, is this normal or is he retracting? He seems happy enough but just need advice x

That definitely doesnt seem normal to me :-/

Yeah I’m not sure either. I would get this checked, it won’t hurt to check and it’s better to be safe than sorry x

It doesn’t look normal to me.

I'd seek medical advice at A&E. Count the breaths per minute as that looks rapid x

No not normal, get checked out asap x

Looks really fast, pls get him checked now xx

Not normal that’s very fast

It doesn’t look normal to me. My first son had something similar but it was colic back then. The breathing was not as fast as this.

I would be straight to A&E! x

Get him checked. I thought maybe he was sleeping (they have crazy breathing when sleeping) but he's not. Don't wait on it! You got this mama

Not normal get him seen!! Xx

Hi he is definitely pulling if you are ever unsure look at the neck and lower tummy for a tug. I would be taking him straight to a&e as he looks as though he is working too hard. You got this mama x

Thank you everyone, taking him to a&e now

May have RSV. Def take to a&e xx

Looks very similar to when my 10 week had RSV. Hope all is ok x

@Jeni if they ring 111 they'll just send an ambulance. So OP either 999 it or go hospital. I wouldn't risk it personally, as others have said it can be normal but it's always best to be on the safe side so wouldn't leave it personally xx

Not normal, specially with the noises. Let us know how you get on! X

Doesn't look right go to hospital

Please let us know how you get on 🙏🏼

As everyone else says, I’d get it checked out bc I’d rather be safe than sorry. But please don’t panic! My wee girl was doing something very similar the other day. We took her to A&E and she was breathing normally by the time we arrived. She was seen by the consultant paediatrician who watched the videos as well as examining her. Long story short, there was nothing wrong with her and sometimes newborns breathe erratically 🤷🏻♀️ they said we did the right thing to bring her in though, far too tiny and precious to take any risks!

Do not panic. But yea I’d take him in

It’s belly breathing go to the er my daughter had that

A&E

Better to be safe than sorry, get it checked out. My son had fast and heavy breathing while in the hospital and they said it’s not normal.

Baby can belly breathe but I’d defo get him checked. Hope all ok ❤️ pls update us!!!! X

Has he got any nasal flaring? Or sucking in at the neck? They are signs also if having breathing difficulties, defo get checked, my daughter had bronchitis and was only sucking in a little bit, hope his ok x

My boy was like his when he had bronchiolitis.. best to be seen ..
Hope everything's ok at a&e x

Hope everything it okay xx

Hope he’s ok. X

That’s subcostal recession, it’s a sign of respiratory distress. Seek immediate medical attention. Children compensate for a long time before they decline rapidly. Anyone who experiences this, please do not delay. Hope you’re little one is ok x

How is he? Hope all is well..kindly update us and please don't be panic,am sure he will be fine..sending you hugs

Pls take him to A&E. Seems struggling to breath. is everything okay? Please update us. Hope he is okay.

So they said that he’s got a bit of bronchiolitis and are fine to go home aslong as he’s feeding well! Thank you everyone 🩵

I was going to say looks like a case of Bronchitis which is likely a baby term for Asthma. My son had soo many of these from about 2 months old until he was about 5. Hospital admissions too. They say to monitor it it shouldn’t be more than 60 breaths in a minute. So I always used to count if I was unsure. Now he’s 10 a cold or flu normally triggers his asthma but doesn’t need an inhaler often

So glad you got him seen, tummy breathing is respiratory distress. As many mentioned above it can be normal, but if your child does not suffer any usual breathing problems and this is new, seek medical advice. Nurse here 🤍 So glad he’s doing well! X

That’s not normal breathing. Please take your baby to see a dr immediately. Praying for you and your little one.

How did you get on at a&e? X

My son was exactly the same with his breathing, he's under a consultant as he was born with a cyst on his lungs

I worried about this with my son. He was doing the same thing but mainly during his sleep, I asked around and went to the dr about it and the dr just told me that he’s okay, it’s because in babies, that’s like a big breath of air. And this is the video I showed the dr. Idk if it caught the whole thing but the ended is where it scared me the most.

Any update ? Hope baby is well

they said he has bronchiolitis but aslong as he’s feeding he’ll be okay x

well that is okay news!

Glad he’s ok! X

My girl had bronchialitis twice as an infant. It’s hard to see but it gets better. She never had to be hospitalized or anything. Her breathing did get horse and she struggled when she got excited or upset and it’s super upsetting to hear and see and not be able to do anything. Hot steamy showers and stand in the bathroom, humidifier, lots of cuddles, snuggles and loves.

It is best to see a doctor and show him this video

glad his ok, my girl had bronchitis at about 7 weeks old, we ended up in hospital a few times and had to stay in, it can take a while to clear up and she had a snotty nose for ages, we came home on virtual ward and had to monitor her for a couple weeks after, they just told me to watch out for if she had sucking in at the neck, nasal flaring and more sucking in of the ribs, hope he feels better soon xx

That's not normal, and the baby is hungry, fist is clenched

he wasn’t hungry he had a feed just before
