Anyone been in this, or a similar situation before? I own a house with my ex partner, we have both agreed to sell as we have separated and neither of us can afford to take on the mortgage by ourselves, we are both still living in the property however, when it sells I will be homeless with 2 children (a baby and an older child). I am currently on maternity leave and can not afford private rent with the price of a 2/3 bedroom house in my area being around £1000. When I try speaking to him about my worries he just says he doesn’t know where I will go.

I don't think you'd have many options tbh. If you sell the council may see you as intentionally homeless although it could be an idea to speak to them direct. If you had the option go and stay with friends or family for a month and then approach the council that they are no longer able to house you. Id also be mindful that they will likely put you in temporary accommodation for the time being. I'd also make an application now to your local housing associations you likely won't be top priority but you will be higher given you have children. He can't force a sale on your home without court order and a judge would not make you sell the home either if it was going to make you and 2 children homeless. Depending on your situation you maybe entitled to housing support through universal credit but thats dependant on your income and savings etc. I would definitely go and speak to the citizens advice. Are the children his children too?

Can you not use the money from the house sale to buy somewhere?
