Anybody else absolutely fed up of being told your baby would be more settled if they had a dummy?
I have absolutely nothing against them, but baby was breast fed and had issues with nipple confusion with a bottle, so I didn’t want to give him a dummy and it confuse him even more.
He does like to be held or be entertained (he’s 11 weeks) and I’m told constantly “you should just give him a dummy, my baby had a dummy and he never cried”.
But on that has anyone found anything that is a comforter that’s not a dummy?
Never feel like I’m doing anything right.

YES!!!!!
I don't want to give my son one, my choice, but I keep getting told he'll settle better with one so I should try him with one
I DON'T WANT TO

Tell them that your baby won't accept dummy if you want to avoid the unnecessary advice. My LO is 9 weeks and he hates dummies, just look at me like I'm crazy and spits it out lol (EBF)

I was adament not to give mine one but she's so unsettled I caved. As soon as she is better I will be weaning her off it. I think if you are happy not to stick with it, I would if I could x

That's bullshit. My baby has a dummy, she cries plenty.

I tried my EBF baby with a dummy at 6 weeks after I had an incident with my mum struggling to settle him. He held it in for all of 10 seconds, spat it out and smiled. We've tried a few times with different types of dummies and he spits them all out 🤷🏻♀️ it makes me glad tbh. I just hold him a lot, he spends a lot of time in the sling. He's also finding his thumb. He likes chewing on fabric and I think once he has a bit more control over grabbing things he'll like a soother or teether

It’s completely your choice but trust me they will still cry with a dummy! Gave my EBF baby boy one after 6 weeks, and yes it does settle him when we are out and about in the pram, but if he wants to cry then he still will! He spits it out more than anything after a few minutes so it’s a very short term solution

I was the same before. Really didn't want the dummy but I only give it now when he's really unsettled as it seems to soothe him. Now however I'm in a pickle as he will not sleep unless the dummy is there. So if you can avoid I would!

Mine will take a bottle but absolutely not a dummy! She sucks her hands when she’s bored/hungry/tired/wants comfort instead. Once I’ve found out why she wants to suck she’s ok, and if I can’t immediately such as in the supermarket then unfortunately you’ll just have to listen to the v normal sound of a baby crying whilst I go through the checkout asap 🙈

I hated the comments until I tried it and he suddenly slept amazing 🤣

My little girl has a dummy and she still cries. I do think it soothes her but if something is up the dummy doesn't solve that. Plus sometimes she gets more upset or wakes when she's lost it so there's that to contend with!

My daughter is 11 weeks and ebf. Her comforter is one of her blankets. I’ve also brought a soft toy (jellycat rabbit) and the same blanket, cut a piece off, made it safe again and sewn it onto the rabbit so when it’s warmer we don’t have to take that massive blanket out. They work an absolute treat. She won’t take a dummy and suffers from extreme reflux so very unsettled constantly but they seem to help her. X
Glad I’m not the only one
