House reno

We are mid house reno, my partner assured me that we would have it completed by time baby arrives, it definitely does not seem as though that is going to be the case and I feel like I live in a building site. We have some rooms completed which I can escape too and I know it’s not the end of the world, but it’s making me so upset that things aren’t going to be perfect for my first baby’s arrival and I just keep crying. Is anyone else In the same position or similar? Baby is due on the 14th.

Oh girl I gave up on the Reno at mine a long time ago because I just didn’t have the energy of being pregnant and doing it up. So I’m just waiting til baby’s here and I’ve recovered to carry on! Don’t strain yourself too much as long as you have a comfortable living space in the house somewhere xx

Our renovation started a year ago but thanks to some cowboy builders everything got delayed and the kitchen is still not finished and the downstairs loo doesn't exist. We do have an upstairs bathroom so can't moan too much. The room that will be the nursery is where we are keeping all the kitchen stuff and the walls are stripped awaiting plastering. Bit stressful but baby will be in our room for months. Trying not to worry but I keep wondering what to do if I go into labour and the builders are here! Baby due 13 October.

Thank you, I think it’s just the pressure I put on myself wanting everything perfect, and social media definitely doesn’t help either! It’s good to know I’m not alone, hope the rest of your renos go well x

We moved in last year and I've just had to come to terms with not doing the nursery and having everything finished, it's frustrating but as long as you've got clean and safe spaces for you and baby it will be ok! 😊❤️ and just think of all the time you'll have to organise reno when you're a few months into that mat leave! 😅 we will get there in the end

We are in the middle of painting the house, we have my bedroom and kids bedroom left to do. So hopefully will get that done b4 I go into labour, my dd is 25th..Dont stress...nothing has to be perfect 🥰 your baby will only want his mama and dada nothing else matters.

I know its may not look great now, but atleast you can slowly work your way towards getting it finished.

Try and enjoy these last few days/ weeks as best you can. Focus on the positive ✨️ 🙏

I’m in the exact same position and our house isn’t even safe to live in so we’ve moved in with his parents.

Our house is pre reno but it looks awful and like we have already started - wallpaper peeled off, bare and cracked plaster, no lampshades just single bulbs in each room. Like you every room is filled with DIY bits or new items like radiators and baths. We are getting the builders in when baby is abour 6 months to start the work and I'm already dreading it. But I figured once baby is here I won't care what the house looks like and I might even be thankful that it is a bit messy so I don't have to be a perfectionist and worry about not getting things dirty. You got this x

Exact same position as you. We bought a renovation house last year still decorated like the 50s. We currently don't have a working shower actually have to get lots of rewiring done. We are old school at the moment have a shower attachment to the bath. Have realised that along as the hiuse is warm and we have hot running water food and there is not to much dust from anything we see doing the best we can. The midwife when she came for a visit had no issues with our house. X

We've manged to complete quite a bit of our renovation: new paint, carpet, kitchen but also still have loads left, e.g. need to buy splashback for kitchen and have flooring laid, need new doors, the nursery has the changing table built but otherwise is currently being used to hang washing and as storage overflow...it's honeslty never ending, even if you get some stuff sorted so please don't be too hard on yourself! Totally appreciate you need your comfort, but hopefully, the rooms that are done can give you this. Like others have said, baby just needs lots of cuddle, love, food, and somewhere to sleep. Also, remember pregnancy hormones and nesting are probably driving how you feel just now making things so much worse. You've got this!!

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏
