Anyone else's nearly 17 month old fighting bed time sleep for 1-2 hours? I'm going crazy wanting to pull my hair out in frustration. When I first dropped his second nap at 15 months he was falling asleep within 15-30 mins and now it's taking 1-2 hours for him to get to sleep. He messes about and fights it so much it's driving me nuts. Is it a growth spurt or do I need to change something about his routine again? The only thing I've changed in the last few days is I cut out his bedtime bottle of milk as he was hardly drinking it anyway. I don't think it's linked as he started fighting his sleep before I did this. He is still napping for 1-2 hours per day 3 hours after waking up for the day but I feel like he's sleep deprived constantly now because he used to sleep 11-12 hours at night with a few brief wake ups and now he's only getting 9-10 with the same amount of wake ups and the other annoying thing is that he sometimes will wake up at 6am when usually he wakes up around 7:30/8am and I have to try putting him back to sleep again for a bit but sometimes it doesn't work so that's also leaving him more sleep deprived. Anyone else been through this please give me some advice as I don't know what to do. Thanks!!

No advice but I'm having the exact same problem with my LG since she turned 17 months she fights her sleep.

Okay so we literally just came out the other side of this! I'll tell you what we changed that worked for us. So we gave warm water in a bottle instead of milk (so we could stop wasting the milk more than anything because he would drink maybe an oz and leave it) turns out the bottle was a comfort which I'm happy for him to keep for now, secondly we made sure he stayed warm all night, we found he was waking more because he was either cold or hungry so the final thing we changed was giving him a high protine snack just before bed, banana oat fingers or peanut butter on toast with sliced banana. When i say he went from a restless baby to a straight though the night baby in 1 night! I was shocked. It could just be luck on our part or it could be sheer coincidence but I'm taking the credit untill I no otherwise š¤£š¤£ x

We are going through thisā¦.only thing helping at the moment is getting super tight on his bed routine for nap time aswellā¦still puts up a fuss but settles him abit. Weāve also started to just put him in his cot and let him cry it for about a minute until he just lays down and then we go in and pat him if he is still a little unsettled.

omg thanks so much I'm gonna try this!!!!

thanks I'll try to be very strict with the timings and see what happens

I've been having the exact same & I've done the same as above, ensure he's had something filling & warm before bed (that helps). I give him a leg massage.
I've also started to leave him to it in the cot, starts a bit teary but he then sleeps the whole night.
Lastly, I've started to talk to him about bedtime. Idk if it helps, but I feel better for making him aware

your very welcome, I'll be waiting for an update šš¤

thanks for the advice. Unfortunately my LB has never been a cot sleeper lol so he sleeps in my bed. I've given up trying to make him stay in his cot as he just wakes up after an hour and won't settle back in there. Practically been like this since birth and no "sleep training" helped. The main thing is I just want him to not fight his sleep so hopefully after implementing all the above he'll sleep better

I'll definitely update everyone!

I tried everything you suggested tonight and it took 2 hours to get him to sleep. He was just playing and messing around. I'm just thinking maybe his wake windows are getting longer or maybe I need to cut his nap short. I've got no idea. It's getting very exhausting now! š

How long are his wake windows currently. My lb is up 3hrs down for his nap then up 6hrs then bed

he usually can't last longer than 3 hours after waking then has a nap then used to be around 6/7 hours, now it seems he can go on longer than 8 hours as he's messing about so much at bedtime

Whatever you do don't let him sleep after 3pm. No TV after 6pm either. Full belly before bed and nice warm pjs. To be honest I'm writing this after being up 3 nights in a row at 12pm because mine fell asleep at 6pm and woke up fresh as a daisy at midnight...ffs

thanks for the tips we already implement all of this. I'm going out of my mind lol. He wakes up frequently in the night as well and still wakes up for the day after only 9/10 hours.
