Me and partner are at the stage where we are deciding if we have a second baby. Overall I had a good pregnancy and birth. I fainted a lot from 6months until the end due to the baby pressing on my vein which was obviously quite scary as well as debilitating as I couldn’t drive or walk very far or stand up for longer than five minutes.
I know my husband would like a second baby but we have very little if any family support and I don’t think I’d be able to cope at home alone looking after my son and experience this again. My husband understands where I’m coming from but I can tell he’s disappointed deep down.
I can’t decide wether to take the chance as it might not happen again or just count my blessings and stick with one child … I’m just worried I’ll regret it when the times too late.

Your partner is allowed to feel however they do. But your health and well-being comes first. I cannot imagine what it was like for you fainting and dealing with that as part of your daily routine for months.
My LO is 14 months and we’ve been having the conversation about a second one too. My family lives abroad & he has a few relatives all about 1.5+ hours away. So, no physical support system aside from phone/video calls. I’m blessed to have made friends while in England that offer physical support. Still trying to get my partner to tap into his own network since he’s lived here 🇬🇧longer.
For us I have always had the stance of I would like our first to be more independent using the toilet, able to feed on his own (not overly worried about choking, sleeping through the night this has been getting better, my partner helping more with night/morning routine.
If you do want to have another child consult with your doctor, maybe set goals you want to see within the family & chat with Dad

How old is your first baby ? If I do have a second I think I would do so once my first starts school that way I’ll have a routine and would make the most of the best years of my first baby instead to stressing to look after two at once.

that’s sort of the issue , my age I’d be too old (in my opinion with increased risks etc) to wait until he’s at school. My little bits just turned 1 xx

Thank you for this , sounds very level headed. Xx
