Thinking of going on holiday when baby is 12 weeks old. Will the pressure from the plane affect him generally or his ears? Any experience or tips please share

I don’t know if it’s bad for the baby but lots of my friends (they’re teachers) took advantage of maternity leave and went on holiday with their babies from about 10 weeks on. They said it was absolutely fine and recommend it to anyone!

We took our 6 month old on a 9hr flight to Florida. She slept there and back. Fed her during take off and landing. She seemed less effected than my then 8 year old son.

It’s not bad for them but the pressure can be uncomfortable during take off and landing. We found giving the LO something to eat/ drink or sucking on a dummy was good as the sucking motion naturally allows the ear pressure to normalise so we had no problems. The plane is basically a massive white noise machine so we found the LO slept super well and 11 hour flight wasn’t too bad at all. Definitely book a bassinet in advance if you are going far as they have limited numbers on board and you need to be seated in specific seats.

Cabin crew here! It’s fine to fly with baby but as mentioned they don’t know how to regulate their ears by themselves so it’s recommended to either feed during take off and landing or give them a dummy/pacifier to get that sucking motion to regulate the ears. Little one might cry that’s just because of the discomfort x

If it helps, my mum flew an 11 hour trip with me at 2 weeks old and I’m okay 😂. I think people recommend feeding when taking off and landing to help with the pressure because they’ll be sucking

Not seen anything saying its bad. In fact my midwife said to go and enjoy while they are cheaper/free to travel and dont need solid food! Lol
