I am 3.5 months postpartum and I am now only starting to realise what a wild ride it truly is!
When Eden was still very little, and would only wake for feeds, i of course would have days where I had unlimited energy and would get so much done. It tricked me into thinking that postpartum wasn’t that bad and I had a ‘I’ve got this’ attitude! But on weeks like this, I couldn’t be more wrong.
And now I’m on day three of not leaving the house 🫠 I just feel completely wiped out. All of my energy is being used to be present for my little girl. Luckily I’ve got a garden to sit in for fresh air & we have everything we need at home ♥️ but that’s not the point…
Postpartum isn’t a linear process. Not only is pregnancy the craziest thing your body can go through, the joint pain you get after is unmatched (something I was not well prepared for), I’m also recovering from major surgery, my hormones are literally reprogramming themselves, on top of my regular cycle that came back with a vengeance exactly 6 weeks after birth! Let’s not even get started on postpartum insomnia!!!!
I’m writing this because I think the process of postpartum should be talked about more. It’s always one extreme to the next that’s highlighted but never the little & very normal bits in between. I also think mothers & parents should be kinder to themselves and remember no two days are the same, not every day is perfect, but not everyday is bad. Some weeks you’ll be on top of everything, others you’ll consider getting a cleaner.. some weeks you’ll be a social butterfly, others you’ll tuck yourself away from the world to recharge.. and that’s ok!
It’s a process that some people will glide through while others will have pit stops along the way… but one thing I’m certain of is we’re all doing a hell of a lot better than we think 🫶🏽✨

You've put that beautifully. I'm around the same stage as you, and I'm finding it harder than ever. You're right. It's not linear... but it's still a forward trajectory 🤞🏻xx

Thank you so much Chelsea! Sending you all the positive vibes and hoping you’ve got a good support system round you 🫶🏽✨
